This is what you get when you try to do two completely unrelated things at the same time. Total confusion. When I still had a TV a couple of years ago, I once "lost" the remote. I found it in the freezer. Yes I was eating ice cream before.

This time I ended up in the bathroom and noticed something of importance was missing and had somehow escaped from the grip of my hand.

You'll find some information relating this scope over on EEVblog and on jeelabs.

I think I will get this one some day.

My decision is not primarily based on the fact that it has mixed signal capabilities. It is a nice feature and the license key + probe connector is nowhere as expensive as what Agilent demands for these for their Infinivision 3000X series of scopes.

If I could justify the expenses for a 4CH 200MHz 3000X class scope I would get one, as it has the option for a later BW upgrade. BUT it would be a waste of money. The HMO2024 will serve me well for all the things I can foresee. I could probably live with the 70MHz version for now, but these are not BW upgradable.

Milling off 0.3mm and getting it all wrong... I misaligned the PCB and I didn't mill at 0°. The 2nd attempt was successful using brackets and a different setup.

UPDATE:

I received a free replacement DIY KIT from jyetech.com which works much better. The old one just doesn't run with new firmwares properly. I suspect a flawed cpu, so I'll replace the chip some day.

Check the seeedstudio.com / arduino.cc forum for support threads.

WARNING:

I managed to brick the scope by updating to the latest firmware ( 113-06201-080 [2009.07.06] ) !

Reflashing -070 DID NOT help at all.

If you should try this, make a backup of the current firmware / eeprom in the chip before flashing anything new! The scope saves data to the eeprom that affects its operation (screen menu / timebase). The eeprom is not erased during chip erase, as a fuse bit is set to keep the data. The 10pin header IS NOT isp compatible, you need to make an adapter. The bootloader lock bits are NOT SET, so flashing will kill the bootloader!

According to the PDF manual, one needs this to fully program the device:

a) firmware.hex
b) bootloader.hex
c) eeprom.hex

Right now only the firmware.hex is available, b) and c) are nowhere to be found.

DO NOT FLASH your device !
