Seeing double? The pilot vessel 'Shearwater' joins an exercise by the RNLI in the harbour of Sunderland. This consisted of the locally based RIBs (B-945 and D-879) and the Tynemouth offshore lifeboat 17-34 ('Osier').

The Severn-class lifeboat 'Osier' paying a visit to the Roker lifeboat station. The latter currently operates only two Inshore Lifeboats with Tynemouth lifeboat station, where Osier is based, covering offshore operations. The name 'Osier' refers to a species of tree (Salix viminalis) found in Britain.
