the neo-classical monument of dr. beilby porteus, bishop of london, stands at the east end of the churchyard below the level of the church, surrounded by sentinel planting within iron railings . he died in 1809.

a mitre and crozier are carved in relief on the tomb lid.

tomb of dr beilby porteus, bishop of london, +1809. rather a cross between a soup tureen and a neo-classical bath tub. surrounded by railings with no gate, someone does a very good job of shaping the yews and cutting the grass; how do they get in, with machinery too?
