Royal Flying Corps recruitment posters tradesmen, some of which were reserved occupations.

During WW1 certain occupations were "reserved" in that the man was doing work that others could not, and was considered vital to the war effort in some way. Normally, as such, they would be exempt from conscription - but some would be able to volunteer within their speciality eg Blacksmiths and therefore be doing "war work" and not become infantry.

I took a lot of toilet surround photos as the public toilets in China have become extraordinarily smart and clean these days. 26 years ago you were lucky to find a smelly, often very dirty deep pit toilet. How times change.

While I was waiting for a train a few days ago, I spotted this couple on the opposite platform standing in front of this huge advertising poster. I couldn't resist grabbing a photo.
