The Houldsworth Arms in Reddish is a very large urban public house which was extensively remodelled between the wars. The facia is in cream terracotta with a semi-circular portico supported by (loosely) Doric columns.

Terracotta on the Town Hall Hotel in Eccles which was opened in 1904 by Holt's Brewery. This was built on the site of the local cock-fighting pits. The buddleia is not a good thing and is no doubt causing serious damage to the structure. The pub is long closed and planning permission was granted for conversion into flats. I doesn't appear that this has actually happened and the building remains derelict.

Scarsdale Vaults

I & F Dunnell owned the Scarsdale Brewery during the 1850s, and built this, at 40 St Mary's Gate, Chesterfield, as the Scarsdale Vaults in 1854. The stone pediment of the Vaults building is lettered with their name and 'WHOLESALE & RETAIL WINE & SPIRITS MERCHANTS'. The brewery head office was next door and the brewery at the rear survived until it was taken over by Whitbread in 1958 and closed in 1959.

The Ship Inn stands in the Shalesmoor area of Kelham Island in Sheffield. It was built for brewers, Henry Tomlinson Ltd, Anchor Brewery, Cherry Street, Sheffield. The brewery was founded in 1889 and put out of action in 1940 by an air raid. It was merged with Carter, Milner & Bird Ltd in 1942 to form Hope & Anchor Breweries Ltd.

A plethora of glazed tiles on the frontage of the Red Lion Inn at Heckmondwike. The jutting-out section with the 'What's On' board over the window was originally a tripe shop!

A fine example of terracotta and glazed tiles on this Warrington pub dating from 1904. It has since reopened as the Railway Court.

Bell Tower

The Bell Tower on Chapel Street, Salford was built as a pub named The Angel in 1901. In the 1980s it closed and was subsequently revived as The Bell Tower hotel for a few years. It is now apartments.

The Star Hotel at Rock Ferry has fallen on hard times. It was clearly once a fine building with the glazed terracotta faience to the ground floor frontage incorporating the pub and brewery names and the name of their Blue Label beer.

The Red Lion stood opposite the Potteries Electric Traction Tramway Depot in Stoke-on-Trent and outlived the tramway by many years. The Red Lion was much frequented by tram staff and later by the PMT bus staff who took over from the PET in the 1930's. It finally closed in 1973 to allow for street widening for the A500 Queensway road - but it was carefully demolished brick by brick by members of the Tramway Society and was eventually rebuilt at Crich using original materials wherever possible and reopened in 2002 at a cost of £500,000.

Detail of the superb glazed tile exterior of the Lord Clyde in Southwark. The brewer Truman, Hanbury, Buxton & Co Ltd. was absorbed into Grand Metropolitan empire in 1971 and then merged with Watney Mann. This proved to be disastrouse for the brewery which closed in 1989. In 2010 the Truman brand was purchased by two London businessmen and in 2013 they opened a new brewery in Hackney Wick allowing Truman's beer to be stocked in a number of London pubs once again.

The Picture House in Stafford was built as a cinema for local independent exhibitor Walter Goodall and opened on 23rd February 1914. It closed on 30th March 1995 and has since been converted to a Wetherspoon public house. In November 2012, the Picture House was equipped with a HD projection screen and began to screen films on Wednesday evenings with a different theme each month. The building is Grade II listed.

Situated on West Street in Sheffield, the Hallamshire Hotel sports a fine tiled frontage bearing the name of long lost brewers William Greaves & Co. Ltd.
Greaves founded the Norfolk Brewery, Broad Street c.1835 and moved to South Street, Park, in 1865. The limited company was registered 1909. In 1920 William Greaves & Co Ltd was acquired by Duncan Gilmour & Co. Ltd along with 29 public houses and brewing ceased. The brewery was demolished in 1962.

The Bull Inn at Llangollen was refaced with terracotta in 1908. The LLB above the bull's head is thought to represent the Llangollen Brewery. The building is listed Grade II.
