First training day for the next VERTICAL UP in Kitzbühel on 24 February 2024 (not a commercial product photo, but a photo taken by myself, with my own boot and spikes in real local snow).

Officially, this themed group had registered as the 'Mariastein Crusaders' at the VERTICAL UP 2023. If you are travelling through the Inn Valley from the north on your way to Italy: Mariastein Castle near Schwaz (Tyrol, Austria) is well worth a visit!

Offiziell hatten sich diese Themengruppe beim VERTICAL UP 2023 als 'Mariasteiner Kreuzritter' angemeldet. Wer auf dem Weg nach Italien durchs Inntal fährt: das Schloss Mariastein bei Schwaz (Tirol, Österreich) ist einen Besuch wert!

A standard empty beer crate including bottles weighs around 10 kg. Then there is the mounting material. Accordingly, the brave monks have about 150 kg on their backs. My appreciation! (Photographed at the finish line of the VERTICAL UP 2023, after 860 metres of ascent).

Eine leere Standard-Bierkiste incl. Flaschen wiegt rund 10 kg. Hinzu kommt das Befestigungsmaterial. Demnach haben die tapferen Mönche rund 150 kg auf dem Buckel. Meine Anerkennung! (Fotografiert an der Ziellinie des VERTICAL UP 2023, nach 860 Metern Aufstieg.)

Arrived just in time: My new XT spikes for the Vertical Up on February 25, 2023. The additional prongs on the toe make it easier to climb extremely steep terrain. (The Ski World Cup slope at the Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel has a gradient of up to 85%).

Rechtzeitig angekommen: Meine neuen XT-Spikes für das Vertical Up am 25. Februar 2023. Die zusätzlichen Zacken an der Fußspitze erleichtern den Aufstieg in extrem steilem Gelände. (Die Ski-Worldcup-Piste am Hahnenkamm in Kitzbühel hat bis zu 85 % Steigung.)

VERTICAL UP 2023: Unexpectedly, the youngest and oldest participants were also called to the podium yesterday. The little one beside me is only 8 years old!
