Hostivice is a suburb of Prague, and is one of the stations on the way to Kladno, where there is a small airport. The line is unelectrified, so most of the services are either Class 854 DMU's, like the one I rode, or Class 810 railbuses, seen here.

This was the yard, with a Class 814 and an 810 waiting to work local services. Telc doesn't have a direct connection to Prague, in spite of its status, but it can be reached fairly easily via either Tabor and Kostelec u Jihlavy or Havlickuv Brod and Kostelec u Jihlavy. At some times of day, Kostelec can also be accessed more quickly via Ceske Budejovice.

This is the station at Telc, a popular tourist destination and UNESCO world heritage site. I visited at the time when there were very few tourists there, partly because it was right after New Year's, but also because the weather was quite cold and most of the businesses were closed.

M131.1238 is an M131 Class railbus, later reclassified a Class 801 under the 1988 renumbering scheme. These units were produced from 1948 until 1956 by Tatra, eventually totalling 549 for the fleet, a very large number when you consider that none remain in service today, as all were withdrawn by 1984, a service lifespan of only 36 years, with some serving less than 30. Their small size may have had something to do with this, as they could only seat 48 people to a modern 810 Class's 55, plus 40 standees, along with their maximum speed of 60Km/h compared with 80Km/h for an 810. Other antiquated features would have been their mechanical transmissions (compared to the 810's hydraulic transmission), and their antiquated Tatra T 301 engines, which were based on the old Tatra T111 from Tatra's World War II-era trucks, that in spite of having 14.8 liters displacement from 12 cylinders, only produced about 155-160 horsepower.

Due to the immense disruption caused by the Tunnel Blanka construction, Nadrazi Dejvice has often been closed, with Gymnasijni serving as an alternate station. Gymnasijni is a very new station, and has a temporary appearance, so whether it will be shut down once Tunnel Blanka is built I don't know.

About a week after I went to Neratovice, I went to Hostivice, a smaller town also close to Prague. The trains there are often even smaller, appropriately enough for the town, often consisting of mere railbuses.

Increasingly, local services on Ceske Drahy are being taken over by these Class 814 railbuses, in place of the older Class 810's. My understanding is that these are rebuilds of 810's.

This crossing at one end of the Nadrazi Veleslavin yard (out of site to the left) is interesting to photograph, though, as it allows one to combine a train, a crossing, and an interlocking tower in the same shot. Here a Class 814 railbus heads into the station.

The renovation of Nadrazi Cercany continued apace throughout 2009, and by the end of August the platforms were complete and Nastupiste (Platform) 2 was already operational, as seen here. The passenger subway wasn't open yet (notice the pedestrian crossing in the right background of this picture), as the concrete was still being poured and dried, and the canopy on the Nastupiste 1 still wasn't up. The track construction was looking quite good, though.

With the old coal bunkers and other structures to the north of the station knocked down, the Class 810 railbuses running services to Sazava and other outlying towns now sit in the open as they wait, and are easier to photography from the street.

This was, I think, an unintentionally blurred shot, although I could be wrong. The fact was the film was only 100 ISO, so it made it easier to get in that sense.
