Fall -- Arc -- Wall (HWW)

Taken during a fall walk a couple of years ago. "The Arc" is a piece of public art (an arch that doesn't quite meet at the top).

The Big Sioux River is in the background; we're just above the falls (see PiP), in downtown Sioux Falls. The trees were turning some very nice colors.

Sir John Betjeman once lived here (no blue plaque; there's one nearby in Highgate West Hill). This handsome Georgian building now houses the Highgate Society.

In a different economic climate, when the rich were getting richer and everyone else was slogging through the muck, this could have been a metaphor for capitalists protecting their wealth by denying access to it. But now, what does it mean? Maybe capitalism is in a prison of its own making.
