sunlight pouring through the filigree of tracery in the vaulted canopy of the c15 rood screen. originally the webs would have been solid, with the loft over, but it certainly looks cool like this, and only a purist could carp.

detail of dado of c15 rood screen, with trade and farming symbols, perhaps of donors.

these include acorns (for pigs), a barrel, grapes, what may be either wool in a basket ( c.f. cullompton) or fruit, and a sheaf of wheat.

view of both east and west canopies of c15 rood screen. it is not known when the infill of the webs were removed, just that it was prior to 1913. the poor graining should be removed from the east side, as it was on the west.
