A Nile Crocodile swims alongside the frantic wildebeest crossing the Mara River in Kenya. Normally, one or two of the wildebeest would become his dinner. However, this day, he was content to watch his dinner pass him by. Perhaps he had recently had his fill of wildebeest. In any event, these wildebeest were extremely lucky that he allowed them to pass unscathed.

The Great Blue Heron stands motionless while stalking its prey. When a fish passes, it spears it with its beak. It then dislodges the fish from its beak, flips it around and swallows it head first.

A double-crested cormorant on the Charles River in Watertown, Massachusetts. This is not a B&W photo. I had initially converted it to B&W but decided that I liked the more brownish tones and the red eye of the original.
