the ornate norman church was rebuilt in gothick , possibly by shrewsbury architect thomas farnolls pritchard though many other designers have been suggested. the west tower was added first in 1725-30, replacing the central tower which fell in 1719; the rest rebuilt 1749-52, using details from kent and langley.

The chancel arch and two doorways stand as a folly built when Shobdon church was rebuilt Gothick in 1752. They have been severely damaged by weather, vandals and even theft

shobdon herefs. tympanum copy cast for the the crystal palace, is in the V&A, and shows how much damage the weather has caused when compared to the original.
