"Horska Farma" means "Mountain Farm," although we didn't visit it properly. I took a photo of this sign because it looked like it was put up during Austrian rule pre-1918, when most signage was in German. This sign is almost certainly a replica, though, both because unpainted wood usually doesn't last that long, and because this sign is largely in Czech. "Horska Farma" is Czech.

This was a sign, and picture/map at the foot of Snezka, outside the cable car station at Pec pod Snezkou. It's debatable whether the "map" is really a map, as it's really more of a drawing of Snezka, in perspective, with key locations marked. Neither of the place names on the sign refer to the location of the sign, as "Snezka" refers to the summit, and "Ruzova hora" refers to an intermediate station on the cable car route. The temperatures and wind speeds also refer to those locations.

I wasn't originally going to post this, but I decided it was retro and weird enough so that someone might want to see it. This is close to the amusement part on Barry Island, along the road leading onto the island, although I don't know how directly connected it is to it.

Here's the official entrance to the Albion Dockyards in Bristol. Established in 1845, Albion played a major role in the closing years of the British Empire, which was heavily dependent on shipping. The primary cause for its decline, as well as the decline of Bristol as a port, was that in spite of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's installation of a "sluice" system that pumped mud out of the Avon and its associated waterways, Bristol's port was too shallow for the larger ships that Brunel himself had contributed to promoting.

Seen under construction in some of my older photos, the old Communist-era City Tower, unfinished in 1989 and not completed until a few years ago, is now full of tenants, as evidenced by this sign, with Raiffeisen Bank being the largest. This was the last photo taken by my Sony Ericsson W302 cameraphone, which survived being dropped into the bathtub only to become prohibitively unreliable a few days later, unfortunately after wrecking a lot of my Hradec Kralove shots (they simply disappeared from the phone's flash memory).

On my way home from Hostivice, I accidentally got stranded at Unhost, which really annoyed me at the time, but in hindsight gave me some excellent photo opportunities, making me regret the fact that I didn't bring a real camera. Unhost is even smaller than Hostivice.

I can't tell if that black stuff where the station sign used to be in mold or soot, but in any case the old Neratovice sign is gone, I'm assuming soon to be replaced by one of the new blue ones.

This is an example of the train-side signs on the Karlovo Namesti platforms, which are standard except for that the letters are on a silver background, which makes them harder to read than in other stations. The little yellow square that you can see indicates, as on other lines, which line the platform is for, in this case Line B.

Standard Prague Metro station signs are color coded to match the color of the line, meaning green for the A line, yellow for the B Line, and red for the C line. The signs on the far side of the track are an exception, as they're made from metal letters attached to the wall. Karlovo Namesti, however, recently bucked this trend when these blue station signs were put in on the passenger side of the platforms...for the B line. Theoretically they should be yellow, as the blue line is only projected as of now, and my understanding is that once constructed the blue line will have dedicated platforms. I'm almost wondering if these signs are a test to see whether the new signs will look right.

The most scenic part of the route to Branik is in Kunraticky Les, where the bike route goes parallel to the Metro between Chodov and Roztyly. This is one of the many information signs (in Czech only) giving you map and some information about the animals, not all of them wild or native to Bohemia. In spite of being in Prague, the picture of the goat is not actually an exaggeration.

This sign basically sends "end speed observation," which has to be one of the stupidest road signs I've ever seen. As you might expect, I've seen people racing their cars through the residential streets behind this sign.

This station name actually dates to 2007, if I'm not mistaken. I remember first seeing this sign coming back to Prague in 2008 from Christmas Break, and it must have gone up before the break, of course. Realising their blunder, however (Kafka wrote stories about hellish bureaucracy and mismanagement), Ceske Drahy quickly removed these signs from inside the rail station proper, or covered the name in tape, rather. This sign, at the bus station end, was allowed to stay, however, so although I kicked myself for not getting the signs in the station earlier, I was able to get a photo of this sign as a last resort.

I've forgotten exactly where I took this, but I really like how it came out. It's definitely one of my better motion shots, at least in my opinion. Those speeds, incidentally, are in Km/h, so we weren't actually going very fast. The shutter was just a bit slow.

Here's a view out on the station platforms. The platforms at Faxe Ladeplads are very low by European standards, and for some bizarre reason my photos there got tinted magenta, requiring adjustment in Gimp before I posted them to Flickr.
