Jumping spider

Today, while doing some gardening, I found this little spider (about 1cm) on my equipment. I'm fairly sure it's a little jumping spider, but I've had trouble finding the scientific name for it. [UPDATE: I now have satisfied myself it's a jumping spider of the Opisthoncus sp.]. Since viewing the image on the computer, I notice it's missing a front right leg.

Singapore 10 cent piece, about 15mm across. This was intended for the Macro Monday group before the recent problems with ipernity, the theme "This time it should be a close-up (macro) of the number 10". Better late than never I guess!

I've just bought some extension tubes to play around with, this was taken with an old manual 50mm lens.

We have two dogs, Coco (previous image) and Meg, who is a West Highland Terrier. We received Meg as a small pup and she has been raised by Coco - in the process acquiring a relaxed Labrador style temperament. She is supposed to be white, but that never lasts long as she rummages around in our garden. :-)

This welcome little visitor to our garden is a Jackie Lizard, part of the Australian Dragons (Agamid) Lizards group. It watched me with interest as I wandered around taking this photo, but showed no concern. One I think Pam will enjoy.

I was delighted to find this little visitor in our garden today. It is an Eastern Dwarf Tree Frog and only about 20mm long. Interestingly, this was further south than the reference suggests it should be found. This has to be the link. I think Pam would enjoy this too!

I shall not pretend to know the species of this fungus, suffice to say that it was about 2.5cm across and growing from the side of a plastic garden pot that had fractured. A second shot in the note shows the upper surfaces.

This is a close up of the little native orchid. I make no claim to any real botanical knowledge, even less on specialised subjects such as orchids: my interest primarily is in finding something which bobs passively in front of my lens and that makes me excited when I get the photographic result I'm seeking. But, were I to put a name to this one, I think I'd call it a Dragon Head Orchid, and I'd probably add a © sign to that. :)

This is a little orchid, native to Australia. When we bought it there was a tag identifying its name: sadly, that is long since lost, so I am unable to give more than a description. The plant stands about 200mm high and the flower is between 15 and 20mm long.

Today I was watering the garden and found this tiny (about 10-12mm) leaf insect. Every time I tried to take its photo, it would shuffle around the stem away from me! Taken with reversed SMC Pentax M 50/1.4.
