This statue is on a hill overlooking the Mourne Mountains to the south and Strangford Lough to the east and commemorates the work of St. Patrick.

According to tradition Saint Patrick returned to Ireland through the narrow of Strangford Lough and landed where the River Slaney enters the Lough.

If you look at the picture in a larger size you can see Saul Church and its round tower in the center of the picture. There is a picture of this church else where in my photostream. This church traditionally marks the place where Saint Patrick built his first church.

I lost my records for this picture and do not remember which village this is. My recollection is that it was somewhere east of Redruth.

Cornwall Double Sun Sunset

The color in this picture is not enhanced at all. It's an older film picture that has been scanned, but the only changes were some touch-up to scratches and dirt in the picture. Especially striking is the second sun, really an image of the sun reflected in the clouds. This image has its own faint reflection in the water which can be seen if the picture is viewed in a large size.
