Taken in our local country park back in November last year.

Best viewed large for detail.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the artist is Christopher Bain.

A rare image of the skeleton of a Viking warrior discovered recently in an industrial estate in Exeter, Devon.

Best viewed large to see all the stuff the skeleton is made of!

With a statue of Admiral Lord Nelson in the foreground. Taken back in May this year.

The church was built around 1210-1214, initially as a hospital and shelter for the poor and travellers. Then from around 1540 it became an armoury and storehouse for the military. In the 17th century it became a chapel for the military garrison.

It was restored in the 1860s, but then in WW2 it was bombed and the nave roof was destroyed. The nave is now just a shell, but the chancel is still a consecrated space.

The has been an art trail called The Big Hoot featuring some arty owl sculptures nesting around Chichester and Arundel.

The Big Hoot is raising vital funds for Chestnut Tree House, which is a local Hospice.

I didn't set out to follow the trail, but I did take a few photos whilst in Chichester.

This charming bear can be found in Bicton Park Botanical Gardens, Devon.

I resisted the temptation to have my photo taken with the bear..........but I couldn't resist taking a photo of the bear :-))

This crucifix is affixed to the outside wall of St Peter's Church, in Petersfield, Hampshire in memory of Commander Loftus William Jones RN VC. His last command in WW1 was HMS SHARK.

His Victoria Cross was awarded posthumously - the citation can be read here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loftus_Jones

For anyone who doesn't know, the VC is the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces.

Not my normal choice of photographic subject - but I had to do something while my wife was shopping and I enjoyed tracking down the story behind it.

This statue, which was created by local sculptor Andy Cheese was placed in Ram's Walk Shopping Arcade in Petersfield, Hampshire when it was opened in 1993.

It caused some controversy when local farmers pointed out that not only is the breed of sheep wrong for the area, but the breed of sheep dog is also the wrong type for the area! Perhaps that's why it's difficult to find an image of this statue linked to the name of the sculpture :-)

This beautiful statue can be found above Parchment Street in Winchester, Hampshire. I added a bokeh texture as the sky was pretty grey.

Another of the odd works of art scattered around the Eden Centre. My grandson was particularly pleased to point this one out to me and suggested I take a photo of it "because it's got boobs Grandad" :-))
