Washoe Lake showing the effects of (a) the continued snowmelt; and (b) the Washoe Zephyr! Inset shows this dock & ramp back in February, 4 months ago almost to the day. The lake has risen another couple of feet or so since then, and there continue to be flood warnings on local streams and creeks due to snowmelt from the now-hot weather.

On Dungeness Spit, Washington state, on the seaward side looking WNW out the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The edge of the Washington mainland is barely visible at far left, and some of Vancouver Island is visible to the right. Straight out this way, tho, the next landfall is Kamchatka! ;)

Lake Tahoe, looking directly west across from Cave Rock State Park, Nevada, to the Sierra Nevada in California. The prominent drainage to right of center is Eagle Creek, which ends at Emerald Bay.

Lake Tahoe on a windy day. Looking southwest from Cave Rock State Park, Nevada, USA. The skylined mountains are the Sierra Nevada in California. The high point to right of center is Mt. Tallac. The title isn't _completely_ facetious--people were actually surfing during a bigger storm a week later. The waves get that big only every ten years or so.
