I'm beginning to regret eating a few of these Maltesers, I think they suspect me of something.................

Well, we seem to have missed the worst of Storm Bert. Where I live we've had high winds and rain, but no snow and it is also quite mild. I think tomorrow will be the same. Other places were not so lucky!

Wherever you are and whatever the weather, I hope you manage to enjoy the rest of your weekend.

My wife bought these Smarties a couple of weeks ago, thinking I might like to photograph them. They've been sitting in my props box just staring at me ever since, I eventually decided to make a simple still life image, just so that I could get on with eating them............and yes, I did share them :-))

Brunswick mill was built c1872 when it was occupied by a number of cotton processing businesses. Following a disastrous fire in 1883 it was rebuilt and by 1890 was occupied by the Brunswick Mill Co Ltd (cotton spinners and doublers). In 1940 the sweet manufacturers Matlow Bros. Ltd and Swizzels Ltd moved to the mill from London to escape the blitz, and have continued to operate here ever since. In 1970 a major factory extension was added, and since 1975 they have traded as Swizzels-Matlow Ltd. The company is a major employer in the area and produces a wide range of sweets including Love Hearts and Parma Violets.

Thanks to all of you who have visited my photo-stream lately, especially if you left a comment and/or a yellow star..........always appreciated.

This was taken indoors, using natural window light and a reflector. I used patterned cards from a craft centre as the background.

It is not my policy to confirm or deny whether I have eaten any of the jelly beans..!!

Madrid is the capital and most populous city of Spain. The city has almost 3.4 million inhabitants and a metropolitan area population of approximately 6.7 million. Madrid is part of the historical landscape of Castile and is located in the middle of the Meseta, the plateau of Castile.

The site of modern-day Madrid has been occupied since prehistoric times. The first document about the existence of an established settlement in Madrid dates from the Muslim age. In the second half of the 9th century Umayyad Emir Muhammad I built a fortress here. After the disintegration of the Caliphate of Córdoba in the early 11th century, Madrid was integrated into the Taifa of Toledo. In 1083, Madrid was conquered by the Kingdom of Castile. In 1309, under Fernando IV, the Assembly of Estates (Cortes) of the Kingdom of Castile was convened for the first time in Madrid.

In 1561, Philip II moved the royal court from Valladolid to Madrid. It became the de facto capital of Spain, which it remains to this day. In 1701 the War of the Spanish Succession broke out, which led to the Anglo-Portuguese occupation of the city in 1706. It ended in 1714 with the Bourbons taking over the Spanish throne. Today's royal palace was built under their rule. Particularly during the reign of Charles III, who is therefore popularly referred to as the “best mayor of Madrid”, the city's public infrastructure was modernized and numerous public buildings were built.
