Ploughing some quite stoney ground, although it looks to be a in a very flat area.

Picture of a picture :- No date / location and I am intrigued by the motive power ... it is obviously not steam, but is some form of internal combustion - the chassis has some resemblance to a traction engine, but with a "crinkly tin" roof - so, some form of early tractor ?

Ford tractor with a "roadless" type conversion. Would be very useful on over-soft / wet ground as it will reduce the ground pressure of the rear wheels - and increase traction.

Bolinder-Munktell BM-Terrier [there were just over 11,000 built between 1957 &1962]

To me, the name "Bolinder" is synonymous with narrow-boat engines - the "hot bulb" / semi-diesel type, very slow revving with a very distinctive sound.

Some of the tractors at Corbridge, almost 70 were listed in the handbook - including the ten based in the "Working Area" ... this was just before they had their run around in the arena.

As the commentator said - these are mostly still vehicles working in the Tyne Valley that help produce our food ...

The official designation is actually VAK1C Cropmaster, David Brown built them between 1947 and 1954.

This monster is used primarily on drainage work [I presume pulling a deep mole plough in heavy clay]. It looks to be 4WD and articulated.
