Waterschappen (Water Management Boards) are very old institutions in the Netherlands, the first one dates from 1255. It created the Dutch tradition of having to work together for a common goal.

The wavy roof line is supposed to symbolise water.

Part of the ground floor was the post office.

The building is empty now, awaiting a new purpose.
