The UK's Met Office have issued further Yellow warnings for rain, snow / sleet and revised the existing Yellow wind warning with additional details.
This map is the BBC's interpretation of those updates.
I'm in the 50-70mph area ... there have been worse predictions, but no harm in being prepared ---

The BBC's weather service produced this map, indicating that the centre is expected to transit just to the north of the Scottish mainland.

It seems that Storm Dave is being channelled towards the UK by a powerful jet stream, the flow of high level winds in the atmosphere were weather systems develop and are guided them around the globe.
In this case, what is now Storm Dave has been supercharged by the huge temperature contrasts across North America during recent days.

The initial Yellow warnings, for strong winds, over the weekend of 4th & 5th April [Easter] 2026.
Issued by the UK Met Office.
As expected, the IoMSPC cancelled some sailings, with others "At Risk" on Saturday night & during Sunday. Fortunately, I'm back on the mainland !
I will need to check various things outside before Saturday evening.

The models are now showing an episode of explosive cyclogenesis tomorrow (UKMO model output suggests 26 mb in 18 hours; from 997 mb at 0600hrs down to 971 mb around midnight). as Storm Goretti tracks up the English Channel.
Therefore the UK Met Office has extended the Yellow wind warnings along the South Coast and into SW Wales, and the Scilly Isles / Cornwall Amber Warning for Wind has now been increased to a RED WARNING ...

Batten down the Hatches !!!!

Seriously, take very great care and be prepared for VERY dangerous conditions.
RED WARNINGS indicate that there is a threat to life.
The Amber & Yellow warnings for ice, rain & snow in the Midlands etc are still in place.

Storm Goretti [named by French Met Office on 6Jan'26] predictions for the track of this low pressure system lead to snow & wind yellow warnings in the UK on Thursday and Friday 8-9thJan in England and Wales. In some areas that will be arriving before the results of previous bad weather have cleared.

The UK's Met Office issued Yellow Warnings for rain on 11th November 2025 over western parts of the country. Some of these areas have already had considerable amounts of rain in November.
These were supplemented by similar warnings for SW England / S Wales - and with added Yellow Warning for Wind in SW England - for Wednesday 12th November 2025.

On 30th Dec 2024, the Met Office further revised their weather warnings for the New Year period {30Dec2024 to 2ndJan2025}.
This included a new Amber Warning for heavy rain in Scotland, and a new Yellow warning for rain in Wales & NW England. The area with the Yellow warning for wind has been adjusted, with the addition of part of Northern Ireland and the southern half of England was released form the warning previously issued.

The Met Office have extended both the area and time span for the Yellow warnings, originally issued on the 27thDec2024.
As of the 29th Dec 2024, the Yellow wind warning now covers part of Scotland, England and Wales. In addition, northern England is now subject to a Yellow warning for snow, leading into January 2025. This looks likely to adversely affect a number of planned events on NYE aka Hogmanay.

At lunchtime [effective 13:00 GMT] the Met Office extended the Amber warning for wind area to include the Scottish Highlands & Islands, including Orkney & the Shetlands, and active until 06:00 on Saturday, 25th Jan 2025.

European modelling for Friday morning at 06:00GMT 24th Jan 2025 peak wind gust predictions, overlaying the isobars. Located just to the west of Northern Ireland, the eye pressure models at 939mbar. To be honest, storm Eowyn looks pretty "ugly" when mapped this way.
