Founded in Saxon times it mainly dates from the 16th century with 17th  century additions and was restored in the mid-20th. The National Trust took it on in 1980.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;
The station opened in 1865 and was closed by British Railways in 1966 along with the entire line west from Keswick. It has since been totally renovated and reopened as a Café and Special Events Venue. In 2019 a replica French-style steam locomotive with Wagons-Lits carriages used in the 2017 film of Murder on the Orient Express were installed on the site as part of a tourist development.&lt;br /&gt;

We have spent a lot of time in Padstow but never made the 30 minute drive there. Despite the rain and wind it was well worth it.&lt;br /&gt;

In any case we could shelter from the storm in the many tourist shops &amp; cafes with only a few tourists in them! This was the Chapel Cafe, hence the beautiful windows.&lt;/div&gt;</description>
