Two horrendous mid-February storms in 4 days. The first dumped 32cm, the second 37cm. Net - barn solar panels are buried and we are generating nothing. Some massaging in PaintShopPro.

Chased owls around the city for a month. This one was 3km from home. Stretched the limits of the lens and sensor since it was backlit and the sun was almost down, and it was at least half a km away.

Chased owls around the city's outskirts for a month. Didn't have to go far in the end - this one was on my street when winter was almost over. Stretched the limits of the lens and sensor since it was backlit and the sun was almost down, and it was at least half a km away. Post in Corel PaintShopPro and Topaz DeNoise.

Taken on my street. When winters were more severe, they came every time. Now they're rare. Probably for the best since it keeps the photo-baiters and "social" photogs away. Saved by Topaz DeNoise as it was pretty much dark out for this pan. It was a very cold and damp Valentine's Day. Street was closed, so traffic wasn't an issue. Got a little ahead of the owl but with massaging (brightened, saturated, denoised, sharpened) there was a decent shot in there, at least to me. Pushed that 1-inch sensor to the edge.

Taken behind the house. The owl moved in in February and stayed till things warmed up in March. Ancient Sigma 400mm/5.6 mirror lens, A7R2, adapted. Even with the hot spot and vignetting that all cat lenses have, this was a good one. Probably shoulda kept it. Saved by Topaz Denoise.

This one seemed surprised to see me, but I was even more surprised to look up and see the owl. Saved by Topaz DeNoise. Sigma 18-200mm. Blocky background due to upping the shadows and downing the highlights.

They're often on this pole top in winter on a rural street outside Ottawa that I won't name or give directions to since in recent years there's been crowds having a social event at the pole bottom bothering and even baiting the owls. Given the crowd there this day, I was far away with an a68 + Minolta 200 f2.8G + matched 2xTC. Improved with Topaz DeNoise.

Taken in a gap in an old railway tie from the Canadian Northern line in a rural area northwest of Ottawa just after Canadian National abandoned it and pulled up the rails and ties in 2015. The line had been used for 99 years. Macro shot makes the ice crystals look big. Minolta AF macro 100mm f/2.8, post in Corel PaintShopPro and Topaz DeNoise, mostly to remove the purple fringing.

What looks like dessicated fruit slightly below and right of centre is a chickadee with its head pointed the other way. Processed with Topaz DeNoise AI (+33v 20-Jan-23). Sony Zeiss 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 on a dumb adapter. So no idea of FL or DoF.
