Quelque part entre Bonneuil-Matours et Vouneuil-sur-Vienne dans le département de la Vienne.

Vouneuil est une petite ville célèbre pour avoir été le théâtre de la célèbre bataille dite "de Poitiers" en l'an 732, opposant l'armée Franque de Charles Martel (grand-père de Charlemagne) à celle de l'émir d'Andalousie au lieu-dit : Moussais -la-bataille. L'émir y perdit la vie et Charles Martel renforça la puissance de la famille des Pépinides. Pépin le Bref, son fils, devint roi des francs en 751 inaugurant la fameuse dynastie des Carolingiens.

This photo was taken by an Asahi Pentax 6 X 7 medium format film camera and Super-Multi-Coated Takumar/6X7 1:4.5/75 lens with a HOYA HMC 82mm O[G]) filter using Adox CHS 100 II film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitally rendered with Photoshop.

Aren't the flower clusters pretty? They are about 25mm across and, unfortunately, are found on a plant which is a particularly invasive weed in east coastal areas of Australia (declared as a Weed of National Significance). It grows into dense impenetrable thickets of prickly shrubs up to 4 M tall. Originally from the tropical Americas, it was introduced in 1841 for its flowers, but was already becoming a pest by the 1860s. The PiP shows a thicket of this weed.

I have no idea if what I imagine is true - but it looks like someone has given (or sewn) an outfit for this little kid, had his picture taken by a traveling photographer, and then pencilled on the back "Foster Mother" in order to send a copy to a former foster mother he had.
I hope he had a happy life.

I actually was in Montgomery Center, Vermont today (about 70 miles north of my home and 2 miles east of Montgomery), to view a moving and beautiful Palestinian Art Show.
