Vor Jahrhunderten war Westerhever noch eine Hallig. An manchen Stellen lässt sich das gut nachempfinden.

Es ist uns tatsächlich gelungen, für diesen Deichspaziergang einen regnerischen Tag im Sommer 2026 zu erwischen ;-)

Friday 7 August 2026 (1010) - Eastons Coaches, Stratton Strawless, Norfolk A18 AWE, a Mercedes-Benz Tourismo new in May 2019 registered BV19 YLP, seen at Fiveways, Barton Mills on a day excursion to Cambridge.

The ticket price was £25 per adult or £44 if an additional river trip was taken. There looked to be a good load of passengers on board.

Friday 7 August 2026 (1031) – Lakeside Coaches, Ellesmere, Shropshire GB17 OUR, a Sunsundegui SC7 bodied B11R new in March 2017, seen heading westbound at Fiveways, Barton Mills.

It had been on a five day tour organised by Birkenhead based GB Tours staying at Great Yarmouth the format of which comprised travelling to the resort on Monday returning home on Friday. Excursions were made on two of the other days (to Blickling Hall on Tuesday and to Cromer & the Bure Valley Railway on Wednesday). Thursday was a free day in Great Yarmouth. The pick-up points on this tour were Liverpool, Birkenhead, Bromborough, Ellesmere Port, Chester and Nantwich.

Lakeside Coaches, part of the Lakeside Group, was acquired by FirstGroup PLC in October 2024.

En tant qu'amoureux du métro parisien, je voulais pour ce WPD rendre hommage à la lignée de photographes évoqués par cet ouvrage : Doisneau, Brassaï, Cartier-Bresson, Klein, Capa, Depardon, et nombre d'autres photographes étrangers.
Je ne prétends pas m'y associer mais souhaitais juste retrouver un peu de leur poésie, et témoigner à ma façon de la magie de l'architecture historique du métro parisien qu'ils ont si personnellement et joliment célébrée.
Une "communion", donc, avec différents artistes à travers l'un de leur point d'intéret commun.
Mais aussi une bouffée de nostalgie vis-à-vis de mon ancienne vie parisienne où les arts et l'histoire nourrissait mon quotidien.
