Meandering pathways lead through diverse plant collections within the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden.

This photo was taken by a Hasselblad 500C medium format film camera and Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 f=50mm T* lens with a Hasselblad/63 1xHz-0 drop in filter using Kodak Ektar 100 film, the negative scanned by an Epson Perfection V600 and digitalized with Photoshop.

Das Foto zeigt einen Teil des Ringlokschuppens im Eisenbahnerlebniszentrum in Pasewalk (Landkreis Vorpommern-Greifswald). Es handelt sich um ein historisches Bahnbetriebswerk aus dem Jahr 1886, in dem man heute historische Lokomotiven, alte Maschinen , einen Wasserturm und diese Drehscheibe besichtigen kann. Hier wurden die Lokomotiven auf das jeweils freie Schuppengleis verteilt.

This week I popped round to some friends’ house to water the flowers whilst they’re on holiday. Once I got there, I realised I’d never really taken a close look at their trompe-l’œil painting that takes the place of a window. So, here it is. And I’m going to do the same - go on holiday again. September is a perfect time: most of the tourists have gone, school’s back in session, and there are lovely sunny days with pleasant warmth. See you towards the end of September.

ILLUSIONS... Cette semaine je suis passée chez des amis pour arroser les fleurs pendant qu'ils sont en vacances. Une fois sur place, je me suis rendue compte que je n'avais jamais vraiment regardé de près leur trompe-l'œil qui remplace une fenêtre. Alors, le voilà. Et moi, je vais faire pareil - repartir en vacances. Septembre est le moment idéal, la plupart des touristes sont partis, l'école a recommencé, il y a de belles journées ensoleillées à la chaleur agréable. Au revoir vers la fin septembre.

ILLUSIONEN... Diese Woche habe ich bei Freunden vorbeigeschaut, um die Blumen zu giessen, während sie im Urlaub sind. Als ich dort war, merkte ich, dass ich mir ihr Trompe-l’œil anstelle eines Fensters noch nie richtig angesehen hatte. Hier ist es also. Und ich werde dasselbe tun – wieder in den Urlaub fahren. Der September ist die ideale Zeit dafür: die meisten Touristen sind abgereist, die Schule hat wieder begonnen, und es gibt schöne Sonnentage mit angenehmer Wärme. Bis Ende September.

Der Flachlandtapir (Tapirus terrestris) lebt in den Wäldern und auch offenen Landschaften Südamerikas. Er ernährt sich von weichen Pflanzenteilen, kann schwimmen und tauchen und ist mit den Pferden und Nashörnern verwandt. Er hat an der Vorderfüßen vier und an den Hinterfüßen drei Zehen. Er erreicht eine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von über 2 m und wiegt 150 bis 250 kg.
Durch Bejagung und Landschaftszerstörung ist er bedroht.

Delphi was an ancient sacred precinct in Greece. It was the seat of Pythia, the major oracle who was consulted about important decisions throughout the ancient classical world. The ancient Greeks considered the centre of the world to be in Delphi.

Excavations took place in Delphi from 1892 onwards under the direction of Greek and French archaeologists; the first museum was established in 1903.

The Archaeological Museum of Delphi, one of the principal museums of Greece and one of the most visited, displays excavation finds from ancient Delphi across 14 exhibition rooms.
