L'Église d'origine de type roman date du XIe siècle. Elle est construite en Grès Roussard, récurrent dans les églises romanes du XIe siècle dans le Bas-Maine. Elle a été remaniée au XIXe siècle.

CHURCH IN THE SUN.The original Romanesque church dates from the 11th century. It is built of Roussard sandstone, a material commonly found in 11th-century Romanesque churches in the Bas-Maine region. It was remodelled in the 19th century.

KIRCHE IN DER SONNE.Die ursprüngliche Kirche im romanischen Stil stammt aus dem 11. Jh. Sie wurde aus Roussard-Sandstein erbaut, einem Material, das in den romanischen Kirchen des 11. Jh. in der Region Bas-Maine häufig verwendet wurde. Im 19. Jh. wurde sie umgebaut.

This statue commemorates Sir Ebenezer Howard, founder of the Garden City movement and of Welwyn Harden City, Hertfordshire. I don't suppose he expected the gardens to me quite so parched as they are at the moment.

This year (2026) marks the 400th anniversary of the death of Sir Francis Bacon. His monument is in St Michael's church, St Albans. To my mind, it looks like he is bored sitting there for 400 years!

Der nach oben gerichtete Blick zeigt die prachtvolle Innenseite der fast 74 Meter hohen Hauptkuppel des Berliner Doms mit ihren prächtigen Mosaiken. In der Mitte der Kuppel befindet sich die goldene Laterne mit dem leuchtenden Fenster, das die Taube als Symbol des Heiligen Geistes zeigt.

Die Innenseite der Kuppel des Berliner Doms zieren prachtvolle goldene Mosaike, die nach Entwürfen des Malers Arthur von Ramberg gestaltet wurden. Die Mosaike in der Hauptkuppel zeigen Szenen aus den Seligpreisungen der Bergpredigt, wie die Inschrift "Selig sind die Barmherzigen" belegt. Die Kuppelkonstruktion, die von großen Tambourfenstern durchbrochen ist, sorgt für das helle, lichtdurchflutete Innere des Bauwerks, das 1905 fertiggestellt wurde.

Chlemoutsi Castle is a High Medieval Crusader castle in the far west of the Peloponnese. It is one of the largest and best-preserved castles in Greece.

After the ‘Latin’ crusaders had captured Constantinople during the Fourth Crusade, the French knights occupied the Byzantine Peloponnese. Geoffrey I of Villehardouin, as a result of a dispute between him and the clergy of the Principality confiscated the church’s property and had Chlemoutsi Castle built between 1220 and 1223.

Following the conquest of Constantinople (1453), the Turks captured Chlemoutsi in 1460. During the Turkish-Venetian Wars, the castle repeatedly changed hands between the two sides. From 1687 to 1715, Chlemoutsi was held by the Venetians. From 1715 to 1821, the Ottomans were once again had the castle, although it gradually lost its strategic importance due to the introduction of new weaponry. During the Greek Revolution, on 10 November 1825, it was defended by the inhabitants who had taken refuge there against the siege by the troops of the Egyptian general Ibrahim Pasha, who captured Chlemoutsi.

Today the castle houses a museum.
