Vanneau téro.........Belle soirée et bon mardi à tous ❤️

En vol, vu du dessous, ce vanneau élégant se distingue par ses ailes noires et blanches. Chez les adultes, le bec est rose avec une pointe terminale noire. L'anneau orbital et les longues pattes sont également rosâtres. Les éperons situés sur les poignets des ailes sont rouges. La grande majorité des parties supérieures est gris-brunâtre mais les épaules sont recouvertes d'un lustre vert bronzé. L'occiput est orné de longues plumes noires qui forment une huppe fine et pointue. Le front et la gorge portent une tache longitudinale noire. La poitrine est traversée par une large bande noire qui descend presque jusqu'en haut du ventre. Le ventre et le reste des parties inférieures sont entièrement blancs. En vol, on peut apercevoir le ailes noires et arrondies avec une large tache blanche au niveau des couvertures alaires. Les sexes sont identiques. Comme chez la majorité des vanneaux d'Amérique du sud, cet oiseau ne subit pas de variation saisonnière dans la coloration du plumage .
Chez les juvéniles , les plumes du capuchon ont des extrémités chamois , la bande faciale blanche est nettement plus réduite et elle est infiltrée de chamois. La bande pectorale est plus diffuse que chez les adultes. La huppe et les éperons des ailes sont assez réduits. Les plumes des parties supérieures sont barrés et ont des petits liserés chamois.
La race fretensis est très semblable à la nominale, mais de taille légèrement inférieure. La race cayannensis a plus de blanc et moins de noir sur la face. Le reste de la tête et du cou sont brun-cannelle. Chez la race lampronotus, la tête affiche une teinte brun-gris intermédiaire avec une nette ligne blanche sur le bas de la face.

Backpacking to Mount Assiniboine we camped our second night at Og Lake. Several other campers' tents are visible on the lower right. We arrived and set up camp in the afternoon and later watched the sunset. It was a beautiful spot but the mosquitoes were very bad.

Mount Assiniboine is known as the "Matterhorn of the Rockies." It is in British Columbia west of the city of Banff and Banff National Park. This photo was taken at sunset from the shores of Lake Og where we camped a night on our backpacking excursion to Assiniboine.

Weather this morning was rather dull, and there was some rain falling which - along with the current camera angle - probably reduced the number of visits.
