The fishing heritage of Winterton is apparent as soon as you walk through the door of Holy Trinity and All Saints Church. Nets from one of the last fishing boats that made a living from the beach hang from the walls and at the back of the church is Fisherman's Corner with a crucifix carved from ships' timbers.
The feature was the idea of Fr Clarence Porter, who was rector between 1925 and 1932.

One of the 14th and 15th Century Winterton on Sea's church's big claims to fame is the impressive tower. At over 132 feet high it dominates the landscape and served as a lookout post during times of war. Some of the soldiers who spent cold and lonely nights up there left their marks etched into the lead roof.

The batsman is out, and is feeling totally dejected, as is his team - in this case Swardeston cricket club the home team. Whereas the bowler and the fielding team, (the visitors) are in celebratory mode.

You might just be able to spot the flying bails.

The new Llandudno Lifeboat Station was officially opened on Monday, 23 October, 2017. Previously the station was sited in the middle of the town, and it took far longer to tow it by tractor for launching. This site is at the Little Orme side of Llandudno, and launching is much quicker.

Sitting in the square having a coffee at the Italian restaurant, best coffee in town BTW, this was the view that we were looking at. Taken about half an hour later, the PiP shows that the BBC was in town. There was an important looking photographer taking a movie of the 'goings on', luckily he was facing away from us, so we won't be on the Midland News. ;-))))

The mapping is inaccurate, but it gives you some idea of the layout of the town. You should be able to find The Square by enlarging the photo.

The Queen of Hearst is a childish, foul-tempered monarch whom Carroll himself describes as "a blind fury", and who is quick to give death sentences at even the slightest of offences. One of her most famous lines is the oft-repeated "Off with his/her/their head(s)!"

One of the Queen's hobbies – besides ordering executions – is croquet; however, it is Wonderland croquet, where the balls are live hedgehogs and the mallets are flamingoes.

Both this sculpture and that of Alice were done by Carmarthen-based sculptor Simon Hedger.

Alice in Wonderland.

Llandudno is a real life evocation of Alice in Wonderland because it was here, in 1861, that the Liddel family, including little Alice, the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s fantasy, came for their seaside holiday.

To the right of the plinth there is a bottle labelled 'Drink Me', and when Alice does, just that, to her astonishment, she shrinks small enough to enter the door. down a rabbit hole. But then she finds and eats a cake labelled "Eat me", which causes her to grow to a tremendous size.

I loved these adventures when I was a child, and still occasionally take up the book once more

Adrian has a woolly jumper on as we've just come down from the top of The Great Orme. It came off very soon after this.

We moved away quite quickly as the seagulls were being a nuisance. One of them even had the audacity to pinch a whole sausage from a woman's hot-dog. That caused a big flurry of wings, and lots of noise.

A 'Small Blue' butterfly on Agapanthus.

We have been very busy this last week, taking down an octagonal greenhouse, and other things. The garden is a disaster area at the moment, with the drought and hot weather making short work of many plants.
