This piece of 'veiling art', which you can see here, wasn't created by humans or AI.
It's a natural phenomenon.

When I took this photo at a vintage two-wheeler meet-up in front of an old industrial building, I immediately had the idea of breathing life into the empty-looking motorcycle goggles.

AI opponents may or may not forgive me, but I think AI (Ado. Expr.) did a great job and made the experiment a success.

After using AI to add the eyes, I finished texturing the photo using digital photo software without AI.

Recently in a City

Occasionally, I see the following message displayed beneath some members' photos:

So I asked myself whether AI could photograph.
Initially, I answered no, but after recently encountering an AI-controlled humanoid robot in a neighboring town that was busy photographing, I had to correct myself.
I could hardly believe my eyes. It was photographing with a Paragraphica context-to-image (AI) camera, created by Bjørn Karmann.

So I’m labeling the image as follows:

The aforementioned AI 'camera' does exist, but the story about encountering the humanoid robot is, of course, as fictional as the misleading claim that AI can 'photograph.' :)

Considering that most of our cameras likely have AI-powered detection technology developed using deep learning technology, can we seriously still argue that our photos are free of AI?

I had originally planned a different motif for World Photography Day 2026,
but life had other plans.
Just in case, though, I took my camera with me to a last-minute appointment.

On the way back, I saw a heart-shaped aluminum balloon dancing in the wind. Its string was caught on one of the sunflowers in the middle of a flower meadow designed as a pollinator habitat.
The balloon is eye-catching. However, I question its value to nature.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have seen many talented photographers from various genres at work. While I greatly respect and admire their work, I have never attempted to emulate their style, and I do not have a particular favorite.

For this reason, I would like to limit myself here to express my sincere appreciation for the work of all photographers who pursue their profession or hobby with evident and palpable love and passion.

On World Photography Day and beyond, I wish us all much joy in photography.

Flower strips at the edge of fields – a feast for the eyes with potential for more

The strip of flowers in front of the cornfield is part of conventional farming practices. It provides food sources and habitats for pollinators and other wildlife, as well as support for pollination and biodiversity, thus fulfilling important ecological functions.

While flower strips are pleasing to the eye, they should be seen as part of a larger optimization potential. This includes expanding more sustainable crop rotations, remediating soil, and managing resources.

In short, flower strips enrich the landscape ecologically and aesthetically, and they indicate that real change requires more than symbolic solutions.

I am delighted by and grateful for the technical possibilities available today that allow us to capture and reproduce visual impressions individually.
