For the week of: March 30 to April 5, 2026.
My dear, beloved Nana is the woman wearing the light colored hat, second from the right.
Titled “The Ladies!” in our family album.
See below for “The Gentlemen!"
My granddad was a printer at Waterlows in London and somehow the retirement community that they moved to in Basildon in their late 70s was connected to his pension, (I think.)
It must have been a hard move for them, leaving the London flat they had lived in together for forty years.
Anyway, here two photos of them, c.1968, off the bus, at this community, going on a bus trip to somewhere in the southeast of England.

Looking at the dress, the haircut, the pram, and the style of the photograph places this image somewhere in the 1920s.
Quite a few shadows of, and near, the photographer.

Where is his other leg? I don’t understand this picture.
Did they pose this deliberately - or is it a weird optical illusion?
Does the shadow make or break this?
Is this another man than the one pictured below? (Whose face looks sort of different but clothes are similar or the same).
Does the man pictured on top truly have only one leg?
Baffled...

The S.D. Ireland Company in Burlington, Vermont decorates one of their trucks every December and drives it around to many of the small towns in northern and central Vermont.
Here it is by the Town Green in Bristol, December 2023.The driver told my grandsons that the truck has over 40,000 lights!
It’s a fun Christmas tradition around here - but the shamrocks can fit in for St.Patrick’s day, too!
