The 3 storey square tower of the building on the left is medieval, probably late 12th century while the rest of the building dates from 1825.<br /> <br /> I'm submitting this photo for World Photography Day because it represents an important event in my life; 56 years ago (almost to the day) I began working here in my first job after graduating from University. Significantly it also records my first visit to Stone Castle for almost 56 years because the Geology Department of Blue Circle & I relocated to Leicestershire 3 weeks after starting here. It also represents the passage of those years because it is clear that the building and gardens are now derelict!<br /> <br /> As a life-long railway enthusiast & photographer I admire the iconic British lensman Colin Gifford who pioneered the "New Approach" to railway photography in the 1960s during the declining years of UK steam. American photographer O. The lost city of England.<br /> <br /> In the Anglo-Saxon period, Dunwich was the capital of the Kingdom of the East Angles and in the 13th century it had 4000 inhabitants with an international port similar in size to 14th century London! It's difficult to believe that when today's village has only 183 people. Coastal erosion has destroyed over half the area of the old city which once extended 2km further out to sea.<br /> <br /> HFF to everyone. The ground floor was used to keep animals while the family lived above on the first floor. It was from Zaisenhausen in the Hohenlohe-Franken region north of Schwäbisch Hall until it was dismanțled to be brought to the museum.<br /> <br /> HWW to everyone.
