The First Nations Totem Poles in Stanley Park are a collection of totem poles representing a range of indigenous peoples.
All but 3 of the totem poles, along with 3 Welcome Gateways, are located in a beautiful meadow setting in Stanley Park.
The collection of totem poles is the most visited attraction in Vancouver and possibly in all of Canada!

The collection of totem poles began in the 1920s when the Vancouver Parks Department began purchasing them to build a replica of an aboriginal village in Stanley Park, and some of these original totem poles were carved as early as the 1880s.
By the mid-1980s, many of the totem poles in Stanley Park were damaged and rotting. Some of the damaged poles were placed in museums and replicas were carved. The totem poles were also placed in a segregated grassy area that was not accessible to the public. That is where they are now.
As they are made of wood, they will continue to rot due to the weather.
