I joined a puffin tour from Reykjavík this summer, with the company Elding. I was glad to note that they seemed very conscious about their impact on the puffin colonies, for example they only go out to the puffin islands with small boats now, not the larger whale watching vessels. The engine was turned off when we arrived by the islands, and we just drifted along, watching the busy (and, funnily enough, quite clumsy-looking) puffins. Good times! :-)

The main road along the southern coast of Iceland passes Jökulsárlón, a beautiful glacial river lagoon, starting at the tongue of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and running into the sea. Lots of bird life and seals, and wonderful iceberg formations. One of the spectatular sights along the Icelandic coast!

The Djupivogur nature reserve on the east coast of Iceland is definitely worth a visit both for the birdwatching and the scenery. Eurasian golden plovers are among the many species that can easily be observed.

I'm still working on getting a good robin shot... I find they often sit down right in front of you on the ground or on a low branch, close and perfect for photography, but during the two seconds I need to get ready, they are gone. I have to be faster next time, to get a really sharp photo!

A mute swan (Cygnus olor) in the middle of a noisy lift-off at Østensjøvannet, Oslo.

When processing this photo, I discovered that a nesting great crested grebe can be seen by the water's edge in the background, to the left in the photo. A nice surprise. :-)

Fieldfare nest

Springtime action in the trees along Akerselva, one of the main rivers running though Oslo.

Does anyone know if fieldfares and blackbirds have some kind of companionship or cooperation? The fieldfare is normally very aggressive towards intruders, but it didn't seem to mind that a female blackbird landed on its nest a little while after this shot was taken.The fieldfare was not on the nest just then, but not far away. Puzzling...
