An archives image. While looking through the photos from my Norway trip, I found this panorama of the lounge of the ship "Trollfjord", taken immediately before departure on the Hurtigruten trip north from Bergen. Best viewed large.

Kiama mural

This mural was new to me. I note (PiP1) it was painted in 2025 by one of Australia's top mural painters, Jimmy Dvate, which explains the standard. It features (PiP2) the Eastern Ground Parrot (listed as vulnerable) and the flowers of Illawarra Zieria (listed as endangered). It's getting late here, but still Happy Wednesday Wall time.
There's a good fence here too, so I'll recycle this for Happy Fence Friday. :-)

Grass Trees (Xanthorrhoea spp) are native to Australia. They grow slowly, but are well adapted to surviving dry conditions and fires. Yes, there's a bench behind too, so Happy Bench Monday and have a good week, everyone.

This is a small (about 125mm tall) native Australian orchid. A friend, who is knowledgeable on these matters, tells me it is a "Small Mosquito Orchid" (Acianthus exertus).

I was struck by this impressive skyscape of offshore cloud formations with an embedded cumulo-nimbus suggesting at least a heavy shower and possible thunderstorm offshore (the clouds boosted by the warm east coast ocean current).

Fungus time

I found these fungi at the base of a large eucalypt tree in nearby parkland. The crown of the nearest one here would have been about 40 mm across. Sorry to say, I don't feel able to give an ID at this stage. Apparently Australia has over 11,800 species of identified fungi, with the suggestion the total number of species here is between 50,000 and 250,000! And I'm now about to head away for the weekend, enjoy yourselves everyone.
