I have tried another browser and still get blank photos. I think I cannot post photos till I can find a fix but using another browser hasn't worked. Sadly the last photos I have posted aren't visible on my screen either.

Maeluk has posted an article:

I downloaded a lot of full size photos from Ipernity when the 100 gig cap was introduced. I did miss having them on Ipernity so this week i have been reducing the size of the photos and posting them back into Ipernity. The process is now complete and I have the photos back on Ipernity. They are all in albums and I find it easier to look for albums when I want to find a photo.

I hope I will be able to get out now with my camera and start to add new photos this week.

Maeluk has posted an article:

I have just downloaded a lot of full size photographs from Ipernity due to the cap on storage here.

On the 5th of January I got an email from Smugmug who have taken over Flickr. On the bottom of the email were these terms :_

In the “User Content” section, the following has been added:

“From time to time, SmugMug may limit the amount of User Content, including your photographs, stored via the Site. SmugMug has the right, at any time, to remove your User Content stored on the Site in excess of such limits. Furthermore, if SmugMug were to terminate an account on the Site for any reason, all User Content associated with such account would be removed. While SmugMug will use reasonable efforts to notify you of such removal, whether by notice in the account or by email to the email you have specified in your account, it is your responsibility to download any User Content which you wish to save and make backup copies of all User Content to prevent the loss thereof.”

In the “Your Account” section, most of the following is new:

“SmugMug reserves the right to terminate your account and/or refuse access to the Services to anyone at any time, with or without cause, at its sole discretion.

I dont feel safe putting photos onto Flickr with these terms at all.

I have spent the time since this email taking off 8000 photographs from Flickr and I have saved every jpeg I still have on their site. I am looking for a catalogue program now for the photographs I have on external hd. It just feels like I have wasted hours but at least I know my photographs are safe.

I have found a way to save photos in Photoshop at 25% of the normal size so that is going to be my normal post size once I have my full size photographs saved to my external hard drives. I hope the downloading process will not take too long now.

Maeluk has posted an article:

When I joined Ipernity and the club there was a message, your in the club, upload as much as you like. I decided to use Ipernity to put my photos in folders and I took Ipernity at its word. Over the years I uploaded 150 folders and 12,700 photographs.

At home I have a computer with 3tb of hd storage and 3 external hds..which in total gives me 12 tb of storage, I have a spare computer in the living room with 2tb of storage too. I regard storage at home as pretty cheap.

I was surprised when I saw that the storage on Ipernity was being reduced to 100 gb maximum and this means I have to take my photographs and folders off Ipernity. I already have the raw files but I intend to copy the jpeg files into folders on my external drives. I haven't found a way to do this by copying an album so I am doing this one file at a time. It might be my age but I couldn't understand how to download folders. It will take months. I have already removed 4,500 photographs and I have some way to go.

During this time I will not be posting new photographs here but I will be posting to Flickr. If anyone wants to look, this is the address www.flickr.com/photos/maeluk

Maeluk has posted an article:

My dear wife Linda discovered 2.5 months ago she had cancer. Today, the doctors say she will pass away either tonight or in the morning. We shared 14 wonderful years together.

Her sisters are flying in to Manchester Airport tomorrow morning and I am praying that Linda hangs on till they can see her.

I will be having a rough time so I don't know when I will be posting more photographs yet.

Linda died at 5-30 am this morning.

Maeluk has posted an article:

I have just bought a new Acer laptop. I have upgraded it to Windows 10 but It is giving me a lot of problems from the start. I cannot run my apps from the store, it won't allow me to use Ipernity mail. It has two hard drives, drive c is 60 gig and everything seems to want to download onto the c drive, I have only 8 gig left on it once I put my photo software there.. Drive d is 2tb but I dont seem to be able to get programs to download to it.

I hope these problems can be sorted out because the computer is gorgeous. It has a great screen and keyboard.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
