Completely missed the 214,000 milestone, which must have been around 29th / 30th January 2026. I've been very busy with both admin, and then having a few days away with my Other Half [Birthday Celebrations]. Sadly , the main part of our target museum was unexpectedly unavailable, so we went to Quarry Bank Mill instead.

Exactly 213,000 visitors at 17:52 on 9th January 2026, Another catch right on the nose ! After the fun & games over the Winter Solstice & New Year celebrations, I'm having another week [almost] working away from home.

212,000 visitors at 16:25 on 22nd December 2025, so right on the nose, for once ! I have been heavily involved with several projects over the past week or two - including almost two weeks working away from home.

Missed by only a few - 199,006 at 09:06 [BST] on 16th April 2025

Quite a wide miss :- 193,029 visits at 21:00 [GMT] on 26th December 2024. Somewhat of an approximation as I was out at a social event for much of the afternoon.

The Winter Solstice was on Saturday, 21st December 2024. During the week following 25th December ; Sunset is a minute, or more, later each day ...

Hope you enjoyed the festivities.

And, RIGHT on the nail, for a change - 192,000 visits at 13:00 [GMT] on 5th December 2024.

Very close this time, as my visits totalled 191,002 at about 09:55 [GMT] on 16th November 2024.

Another quite wide miss ! My counter was 190,008 at about 09:30[GMT] on 28th October 2024. Missed again, total was 189,013 around 08:30 [BST] on 8th October 2024

Visits Total was exactly 188,000 at 08:11 [BST] on 19th September 2024. So, I managed a rare "on the nail" for this, quite pleased as I had been away for a couple of days.

My visits count passed the 187,000 mark around 18:00 [BST] on the 30th August 2024, but as I was away from the interent this evening, I missed the exact moment, again.

My total went over the 186,000 mark sometime over the weekend of 10 / 11th August 2024, I was away that weekend so I missed the precise moment.

My total visits counter passed the 185,000 mark sometime on 22nd / 23rd July 2024 ; as I was away from the internet, I missed the exact moment.

My total counter was 184,004 about on 6th July 2024, which was just a slight miss from being right "on the nose".

The visits totaled 183,001 at about 11:38 on 18th June 2024, which is close enough to being right "on the nose" ...

My total vists were 182,001 around about 21:25 on 30th May 2024, which is close enough to being "right on the nose" ...

My "Counter" ticked over the 181,000 total around 23:59 on 9th May 2024, baseed on the usual pattern of visits during my night-time hours.

My visits total passed 180,000 during the early morning of 20th Aprl 2024, based on the usual pattern during the UK's nighttime hours.

Spring has arrived, finally, judging by the plants - and young lambs - together with some slightly better weather; at least we have had some sunshine and milder temperatures.

The counter passed 179,000 around midnight on 27th March 2024 [or shortly afterwards] based on the usual patterns of visits during my nighttime hours.

I was at a conference during the period when the visits counter passed 178,000 - I estimated 12:00 on 7th March 2024 as I don't have an exact date / time.

Recent weather has continued to be cold, wet & windy, thankfully there are now a few signs of approaching Spring - despite some snow flurries in the past few days. There has been so little respite from stormy weather that many areas are still water-logged to the point of flooding. Strong winds etc have uprooted a lot of trees, leading to some disruption to travel [whether that's ferries, rail or roads] and power outages, depending on where you are based. Fortunately, SW Northumberland has escaped most of the time.

At 17:22 [GMT] on 13th February 2024, the visits counter ticked over to exactly 177,000 - spot on, for once !

At 11:28 [GMT] on 24th January 2024, the counter ticked over to 176,003 total visits.

Recent weather has continued to be very cold, wet & winds - now [22nd Jan 2024] up to "Jocelyn" in this season's named windstorms. There has been so little respite from the stormy weather that many areas are water-logged to thne pointv of flooding and lot of trees have been uprooted, leading to severe distruption to power supplies and travel [whether that's ferries, rail or road !].

At 15:14 [GMT] on 3rd January 2024, the counter ticked over to 175,001 total visits. Recent weather has continued to be very cold, wet & windy - now [2Jan2024] up to "Henk" in this season's named windstorms.

Happy New Year for 2024, everybody ...

May you be peaceful in your body and in your mind.

May you be safe and free from accidents.

May you be free from unwholesome states of mind, fear and worries.

May you know how to look at yourself with the eyes of understanding and

compassion.

Sometime today, 13th December 2023, the counter ticked over to 174,000 total visits, I'm going to assume it was noon. There was some snow in the last week of November / first week of December, and it has remained very cold. Apart from that, the wet & windy weather has continued, almost unabated since late September, with several "named" storms [last was Fergus on 10th December 2023]. As a result there are some very water-logged areas - including fields and roadsides.

Right on the nail today, with 173,000 total visits at around 15:45 GMT on 23rd November 2023. The wet & windy weather has continued, almost unabated since late September, with several "named" storms. As a result there are some very water-logged / flooded areas.

A little wider today, with 172,009 total visits at around 19:30 GMT on 31st October 2023. The wet & stormy weather has continued, almost unabated for the past month. The ground is very water-looged in many places.

Much closer today, with 171,002 total visits at around 20:02 BST [19:02 GMT] om 9th October 2023. The wet weather has continued, almost unabated, for the past couple of weeks. The ground is very water-logged in many places.

An even wider miss, with 170,017 total visits at around 09:45 BST [08:45 GMT] on 19th September 2023. After several very wet and stormy days. some sun this morning would make a welcome change !

Another wide miss, with 169,012 total vists - and just missed 10,000 visits to the Peterhead Prison Van album - at approximately 10:15 BST [09:15 GMT] on 28th August 2023. This is the Late August (Summer) "Bank Holiday" in Great Britain. After several very wet days, some sun this morning, makes a welcome change !

Quite wide miss, with 168,011 total vists at approximately 08:29 BST [07:29 GMT] on 6th August 2023, which is a close friend's 72nd birthday. Their Significant Other Half has *something* planned for later ... we had a most enjoyable trip out to the coast and castles of Northumberland, with a decent lunch in Warkworth on the way, and with co-operative weather.

Another almost spot-on, with 167,001 total visits at 11:19 BST [10:19 MT] on 15th July 2023.

Almost spot-on this time, with 166,001 total visits at approximately 12:49 BST [11:49 GMT] on 23rd June 2023. Just missed the longest day by a smidgeon !

I have been gradually working through uploading & dealing with the results of installing a new toy in the garden, a wildlife / trail cam, as we have been trying to identify what has been eating the food we put out. The results are quite interesting ...

Somewhat larger overshoot this time, with 165,008 total visits at approximately 09:29 BST [08:09 GMT] on 31st May 2023

Rather more of an overshoot today, with 164,005 total visits at 23:09 BST [22:09 GMT] on 9th May 2023. King Charles [the third] was crowned on Saturday 6th May 2023.

Much less of an overshoot today, with 163,002 total visits at 09:05 BST [08:05 GMT] on 16th April 2023.

Overshot today with 162,005 total visits at 10:30 BST [09:30 GMT] on 26th March 2023.

Almost "spot-on" today with 161,002 total visits at 09:32 GMT on 2nd March 2023

Rather less of an overshoot today than I predicted; 160,005 total visits at 23:32 GMT on 6th February 2023.

Slightly overshot today - 159,005 total visits at 21:00 GMT on 13th January 2023.

Just caught this one in passing - 158,001 at 12:30 GMT on 23rd December 2022. Just missing the Winter Solstice ...

Missed the exact details of passing the 155, 156, and 157,000 thresholds, for various reasons. However, I really appreciate all the various interactions with my images, especially the yellow stars and comments - Many Thanks !

Somewhat later than planned adding this update ! However, the total visits were at the 154,004 mark around 07:55 on 14th October 2022

More accuate this time : the 141,000 total was reached at around 12:47 on 18th December 2021.

Slightly missed the 140,000th visit, as the count was 140,010 when I actually checked at 11:17 GMT on 26th November 2021.

Almost exactly spotted the 139,000 milestone. The visits total was 139,001 at approximately 10:56 on 6th November 2021. [back on GMT from 31st October]

An extra new poroject arrived on October 2021.

Just missed the 138,000 milestone. The visits total was 138,004 at approximately 19:25 on 17th October 2021.

Missed the 137,000 milestone, but only very slightly. The visits total was 137,008 at approximately 14:30 on 28th September 2021.

When I checked at 14:07 on the 7th September 2021, I was able to determine that sometime before 14:03 the visits total had been spot on at 136,000.

Somewhat missed the 135,000-th visit, as I have been out for most of today at various masked & socially distanced meetings. Total was 135,021 at approximately 10:45 on 19th August 2021. [spotted when I came back from the first visit]

And almost exactly "spot - on" for the 134,000-th visit. Total 133,998 at 13:05 on 29th July 2021. [I'm going out for a meeting at 13:15 so will miss the exact time spot]

Actually "spot - on" for the 133,000-th visit. Total at 15:50 on 10th July 2021.

Almost another "spot-on" as my visits total was 132,003 at 10:02 on 21st June 2021. Happy Summer Solstice !Managed another "spot - on" for the 131,000 total. This was achieved at 17:45 (BST) on 1st June 2021.

Managed a "spot - on" for the 130,000 milestone. This was achieved at 21:40 (BST) on 11th May 2021. I am still working away with the various backdated images, and I have found some more "missing" images ...

I was away from a decent internet connection during late April 2021, working on building up a replica carriage kit on site, construction there had been started at Easter. Therefore, I missed the 129,000 threshold. I estimated that this figure was achieved sometime around the 21st April.

A little under this time ; 127,994 @10:30 [BST] on 29th March 2021.

[Sometime on the 19th March 2021, this article had the 1000th visit !]

A little less over this time ; 127,011 at 11:54 on 12th March 2021.

A liitle over this time ; 126,025 at 19:30 on 20th February 2021

Another new project arrived on 18th February 2021 as an exchange with the previous carriage. The transport moves were significantly delayed by various Covid-19 lockdowns.

This is including a period without being able to upload new images - this problem was resolved at 14:00 - approximately - on 12th January 2021 and I did three test uploads at or shortly after 14:05.

Season's Greetings ! Here's hoping that 2021 is an improvement on 2020. Truly an annus horriblis for many people. My sympathy with everyone that has been affected by the pandemic.

A little over ; 125,023 at 22:26 GMT on 31st January 2021.

Actually spot on ; 124,000 at 20:50 GMT on 12th January 2021.

With all good wishes for the New Year and the coming decade ...

So not quite so far away : 123,007 visits at 22:33 (GMT) on 25th December 2020. Even after the recent period without full access (20thNov to 3rdDec2020) and with the uploader still off-line as at 25th December 2020 (& to date ...).

A little closer : 122,010 visits at 16:25 (GMT) on 6th December 2020. Even after the recent week or so without full access (20thNov to 3rdDec2020) and with the uploader still off-line.

Still a bit further away than usual: 121,015 visits at 09:45 (GMT) on 12th Nov 2020.

A bit further away :120.012 visits at 10:28 (GMT) on 25th October 2020 [I blame the change from BST to GMT for oversleeping this morning !]

Not quite so close : 119,009 visits at 09:48 (BST) on 3rd October 2020

In early September 2020, I re-established access to several hundred images from 2005 to 2010 - and started to download them. Almost all of them were related to trips for Esperanto events with my [now late] father. I had thought that I had lost them forever, but now most are uploaded here and backed up elsewhere.

That was a lot closer :118,001 visits at 20:57 (BST) on 10th September 2020.

Nowhere near enough to spot on ( I was away for a few days) ; 117,075 visits at 15:39 (BST) on 21st August 2020.

Spot on again , or close enough - 116,002 visits at 10:15 (BST) on 28th July 2020

115,000 visits at 14:33 (uk BST) on 6th July 2020.

A new project was started during July 2020 - images to follow. Plus another one in December 2020 (which should have been in September, delays were not our fault.)

Almost exact this time ; 114,002 visits at 20:12 (BST) on 13th June 2020.

113,009 visits at approx 14:20 (BST) on 21st May 2020.

Approx 112,000 visits at about 09:00 (BST) on 29th April 2020.

111,000 visits at 22:00 (BST) on 5th April 2020. So "Spot on" this time.

During the short period I was away from the internet recently the total visits figure passed over the 110,000 threshold. This was sometime between 09:30 on 15th March 2020 (109,986 visits) and 16:00 on 16th March 2020 (110,042 visits).

Some images of - or related to - the UK winter storm season [initially 2019/2020] are "in processing" [now finished & added to more recently]

Been working some very long shifts and then away from home a lot during March and April 2019, and without a proper internet connection - so missed both 96 and 97,000 visits milestones - Now totalling 97,048 about 17:00 on 2nd May 2019 ...

Reached 95,000 visits at 18:45 GMT on 8th March 2019. Many thanks to all, and especially for all comments and yellow stars. I must really get back into visiting ...

Reached at 153,999 visits around 23:20 on 19th September 2022.

HM the Queen Elizabeth the Second was laid to rest today, 19th September 2022. Thank you for your loyal and dedicated service to the nation, ma'am.

151,006 visits at 19:00 on 15th July 2022.

150,000 Milestone achieved. Well, at 23:59 on 23rd June 2022, my visits total was 149,999 ... and at 08:35 on the 24th it was 150,014. [Five PLants & Moon in conjuction ] Many thanks to all my visitors, especially all the appreciation and comments.

Missed by a bit ... when I checked at 09:27 on 2nd June 2022 [also HMQ's Platinium Jubilee] the visits total was 149,010.

Almost, again ! my 'visits' total was 148,003 when I re-checked at 18:52 on the 11th May 2022. It had been three under 148k, only a very few minutes earlier.

Almost ! my 'visits' total was 147,003 when I checked at 18:02 on the 19th April 2022. It took just three weeks for the addition of the previous 1,000.

Right on the dot - my visits total was 146,000 when I checked at about 16:10 {BST} on the 29th March 2022.

NOTE: BST arrived on Sunday 27th March 2022 - Hoorayyy!!! and will end on 30th October 2022 - BOOOOO HIIISSSSS !!!! Here comes WINTER,

Missed the mark by more than a little today ... the total was 145,026 when I logged in this morning, at about 09:26 on the 9th March 2022.

Right on the nose this time ... ! ... the visits total ticked over to 144,000 at 14:49 on the 15th February 2022

Missed again ! : the count total was 143,013 vists when I checked around 09:40 GMT on 29th January 2022.

1st January 2022 - I send best wishes for the New Year to everyone. May you be happy, healthy & wealthy during the next 12 months.

Keep Safe from the Pandemic ...

Total visits were 109,023 at 10:15 on 23rd February 2020.

Now achieved 108,006 at 19:55 on 31st January 2020 and 107,004 at 17:07 (UK BST) on 6th January 2020.

Some images of - or related to - the UK winter storm season [initially 2019/2020] are "in processing" [now finished & added to more recently]

The visits total was 106,003 at 21:45 on 16th December 2019 from 105,007 at 19:30 on 22nd November 2019, after 104,029 at 09:00 on 30th October 2019 (GMT). and 103,018 visits at 17:00 (BST) on 5th October 2019.

Total was102,009 visits at 08:17 (BST) on 10th September 2019 after the total reached 101,002 visits at 19:17 (BST) on 16th August 2019. 100,003 visits at 22:28 (BST) on 20th July 2019 with 99,004 visits at 10:38 (BST) on 24th June 2019; 98,003 visits at 20:14 (BST) on 27th May 2019.

94,004 visits at 08:10 on 11th February 2019 from 93,001 visits at 09:10 on 16th January 2019.

Visits total passed the 92,000 mark sometime during the day on 21st December 2018 (Also the Winter Solstice)

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

Having realised that I have a lot of uploaded images still to process - they are mostly already added to albums, but without Captions, Keywords and Titles - I decided to try playing catch-up. This will take some time ! I have also done a lot more uploads and I have been adding new albums as part of my tidying up activities, once these new albums get a few views they will wander into folders, which will need re-arranging as appropriate. We have been to a few special events ...

To help me, I decided to "tag" the multitude of albums. So, I'm doing that at the moment. [first run was 18Nov2024, revisions done on 8thJan2025, 25March2025 and 25thMay2025, 1stJuly2025, 26thAugust2025]

{New} = what it says on the tin, some will appear as "spin-offs" from larger albums.

{OK} = up to date ie work already completed

{WIP} = albums with images due to be processed

{Updated} = contains images recently uploaded &/or processed and should graduate to {OK} the next time I look through the albums list.

Yes, I know I've got a lot of albums, some of which are tiny and others very large.

When I'm working on these updates, the album[s] in question will almost certainly be found in the featured albums strip on my album homepage, which is based on the most recent favourite albums - so that list will be cleared out in preparation.

<media:text type="html">

His heart finally wound down this morning at about 0315-20 on 7th January 2019.

He managed 99 years 9 months and 15 days.

I'm trying to remember all the very many good times, but I'm having a hard time through my tears.

At least he went peacefully, just slipped away.

I had been called in by the hospital, and I'm so glad I stayed overnight, with time to say goodbye.

Funeral details:

13:30 at the Crematorium, Bangor, North Wales and afterwards at the Russell Tea Room, Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, Porthmadog, North Wales.

The In Memorium collection will be for the Middleton Railway Trust, Leeds.

It was my birthday yesterday [6th September] and that made me miss him all over again.

My mother's birthday would have been on 29th September [ had she lived beyond 1982, she could have reached the grand age of 97 this year ]. I miss her as much as I miss my father.

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

Yesterday, Friday 19th November was definitely NOT a good day for this household.

Although, I know it could have been far worse ...

First strike - we've all had a bout of digestive problems, involving frequents visits to sit on the loo. Cause unknown, no other symptoms, in case anyone suggests LFTs.

[oh, and our visiting cat needed an emergency bathroom break ... but not the dog, as far as we can tell]

Second strike - on a search for windfall apples, one of us managed a poke in the eye with a bit of stick, which bled for a while. That resulted in some first aid and a visit to our local minor injuries unit, came away with ointment for 5 days. The eye is looking much better now.

Third strike - I had to go and deal with a dispute at work [long-standing and has roots in clashing personalities]. Having listened to both sides, together and separately, I gave them both an instruction, that they both agreed would be complied with before leaving work on Friday. They will both get letters on Monday, with an action plan to sort out the problem in the short, medium & long term.

[the weather is cold, wet & windy and I did a lot of this outside - for privacy - and therefore I got very cold & personally dispirited by the situation]

You would think that would be quite enough for one day ...

Had a call in the evening ... An elderly relative has died [not from Covid], another family member has had a relationship breakdown, and a third part of the family has had a well-loved pet die unexpectedly.

Not sure if not being able to eat an evening meal, or sleep properly count for this list.

I just need something good to happen ...

[It will be two weeks after my booster this coming Friday ... I hope that counts !]

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

Please read ...

[EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity,

1) In technical and economic terms, we have achieved a lot since we have managed ipernity ourselves. Now is the time to make this great progress public in order to attract new club members because the stock of registered accounts is exhausted:

www.ipernity.com/doc/11832/50369726

{image}

[a] Non-renewal of 2-year subscriptions which ipernity S.A. had offered as a special offer in 2016.

[b] Compensation by a return offer which was accepted by 151 former members.

[c] Non-renewal by 88 returnees. Currently only 63 retournees are still active (42%).

[d] Campaign targeting 228 former members. Of these, only 42 have been won back (18%).

[e] Loss of Esperanto members and those who had used ipernity only as a cheap cloud.

[f] Covid 19 pandemic.

[g] Multi-year reprogramming subscriptions (participation of 90 club members).

[h] Regular multi-year subscriptions (participation of 179 additional club members to date).

2) Contrary to expectations, the introduction of the new basic accounts had no positive impact on membership development. Efforts to mobilise guest account holders have also been unsuccessful. On the other hand, we are very pleased with the trust that 269 members have expressed by making multi-year subscriptions.

3) In order to secure ipernity's continued existence, we now need to get photo enthusiasts from outside interested in our club. In doing so, we can focus on a major disadvantage of our community: ipernity is far too little known. Our chance for the future lies in changing this.

4) As a community of volunteers, we can only do this together. As with crowdfunding at the beginning of 2017, the commitment of very many is needed to develop the necessary presence at all possible levels.

5) Even if you do not know how you can help exactly, please participate in the discussions on this topic.

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

Our COVID-19 deferral offer from last Friday has triggered an even more ambitious member initiative. Donations were offered to help those who have financial difficulties paying for due subscription renewals as a result of the Corona crisis. We welcome this initiative and make the following arrangement:

▶️ Aid can be granted for subscription renewals that are becoming due, up to no more than 30 days in advance.

▶️ The prerequisite is a financial emergency as a result of the Corona crisis.

▶️ Applications can be submitted by ticket via 'Help & Contact'.

▶️ Examination and allocation are carried out by an independent committee. The amount and duration of the aid depends on the individual case and the amount of donations received.

▶️ The initiative is initially limited until September 1, 2020.

In these difficult times, ipernity provides many people with orientation or distraction from everyday worries. If you are one of the lucky ones who are in a secure job or have a good retirement plan, help those who are having a hard economic time staying in our community.

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

[DE] & [FR] editions are here : www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4714600

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

Today, we would like to address two topics that have been of great interest to you in recent discussions.

1) Being responsible for a balanced budget, the ima team is not allowed to spend money that is not in the bank. Therefore, we cannot assign any more software development orders in 2018. In the short term, it's not possible to integrate a display of individual memory consumption or a donation button into the website, nor to fix any bugs. As a special service, however, we offer club members the opportunity to be informed of the amount of memory consumed by all their files. Send an e-mail with the access data of your ipernity account to ipernity.marketing@gmail.com. (The easiest method is to copy the link to your account from the browser line into the mail.)

2) With regard to donation offers, we remind you that it has always been possible to give club subscriptions to "free" users www.ipernity.com/club/gift/network. In this way, you can easily support people with low incomes or from economically disadvantaged regions. If you would like to remain anonymous to the recipient, we will be happy to help as a mediator. In such a case, please send an e-mail to ipernity.marketing@gmail.com as well.

Over and above, we would like to make a preferential offer to all club members today and thus reward your loyalty:

3) In addition to our given promise to protect club members confidence with respect to existing contracts, we invite you to renew your subscriptions before March 31, 2019 - even if the renewal is due later. This will allow you to postpone your transition date to the new Standard Subscription to some date in the future, at your convenience. With respect to the current subscription fees, we recommend that you renew your subscription before January 31, 2019. Because in February, we will have to adjust your contributions to the strength of the US dollar. (The hosting service has to be paid in US Dollars not Euros. The contributions in the other currencies will be increased by between 3 and 10 %.)

[EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1. tomorrow the meteorological winter begins. Therefore we have switched the ipernity front page to "winter operation". Once again, we would like to thank the photographers whose pictures have helped to create a great variety[of motifs].

2 In order to disturb the ongoing operation as little as possible, the cleaning of the database was switched to individual account processing. To be on the safe side, each individual account history is checked. Because this work is very personnel-intensive, so far only 3,800 of 4300 affected accounts have been cleaned. Around 500 accounts are still to be processed. A final report can therefore only be given in the next Newsflash.

3. The manifold proposals from the community regarding the new subscription packages were weighed against each other and brought into the form presented here. These subscription packages replace starting from April 01, 2019 the past differentiation of the registered users into free users and club members. Appropriate transition rules will soon be developed for all existing accounts.

[Chart]

4. From December 1st, we will grant 6 bonus months to all users who register with ipernity and sign up for a club membership. (This offer is therefore valid for users with a registration number > 2,424,200.) In this way we want to make it possible for all interested parties who are interested in the new basic package to join ipernity now. At the end of the first year of their membership they can then decide for themselves in which form they would like to extend their membership.

5. In order to reward your help in recruiting new members more appropriately, we have upgraded the existing module www.ipernity.com/club/sponsorship. Instead of only 1 + 1 month as before, there will be 3 + 3 months credit for each newly recruited club member in the future. As before, only users who did not yet have a club subscription can be recruited. If this promotional offer is applied to new users according to §4, the bonus months from §4will be cancelled. Advertisers and hires then share the 6 bonus months of §5. (A combination of both offers is therefore not possible.)

1) After having weighed all requests for changes made by the Community with regard to the new ipernity tariff structure, today we present you a revised proposal. It is intended to make this structure official by November 30, 2018, after a final fine-tuning, if necessary, so that Flickr and Google+ users who are willing to move will be able to find out what to expect from ipernity.

New Membership Model (draft 2) ]

2) We aim to implement the new tariff structure into our website by March 31, 2019. There will be appropriate transitional arrangements for existing accounts. Club members should have protection of confidence. The deadline will be April 1, 2019. After this date, club subscriptions will only be renewed on the terms of the premium tariff group.

3) With regard to the future maximum premium storage quota of 100 Gibabyte, we will contact the 42 affected users directly. It is advisable that those affected consider before April 1, 2019 what content could possibly be dispensable or compressible so that the additional costs do not become too high.

4) In the discussion, it was often pointed out that in the future we will have to put much more emphasis on what makes us unique as a fellowship. We would like to ask you to help us gather the relevant aspects by using the brainstorming comments. So tell us please: "What is so unique about ipernity for you?"

[EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) During the last two weeks Ipernity's performance was unfortunately not always as good as it should have been. The reasons were explained in the comments to the last Newsflash. In the meantime, various technical and organizational measures have been taken to recover the usual performance.

2.1) There are always requests about the warnings of modern browsers that ipernity is not safe. We would therefore like to point out again that ipernity has not become more insecure, but only the security rules of some browsers have been tightened. Ipernity is as secure as ever.

2.2) Our community currently cannot afford a complete encryption of the existing ipernity software. However, the sites on which sensitive personal data is transmitted have been encrypted. This meets all data protection requirements. We can only do more when funds are available. The budget is already very stretched.

3) During the last maintenance, some links were removed from the ipernity menus, which led to various tools that also needed to be upgraded, including the ipernity uploader. This 2009 tool is still available, but we cannot guarantee that it will work with all modern operating systems. You can find it under the link below and can continue to use it on your own responsibility. However, we cannot offer a support or an update. www.ipernity.com/about/uploader

If there is anyone within our community who could do such an update, of course we would be delighted!

4) Due to current requests from Flickr users who are willing to change, we have re-discussed the ideas we have repeatedly put on hold about a timely ipernity membership model within the ima team. After weighing up many, sometimes contradictory aspects, we have agreed on a first compromise internally, on which we would now like to hear your opinion:

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

After a very long time (end of April, in fact), I have been able to devote some time to uploading some more images. There are a lot to do, so it will be some time before I can say that I am really up to date with this. I will also reduce my group memberships slightly. (This process was started on the 19th October 2017 and will be continued at intervals over the next few days/weeks, depending on progress)

The images will be a mixture of home, garden and other interests plus a good number of restoration project records, which will - because of the time lag involved - have a seemingly chaotic appearance within my uploads. I hope to sort into order within the appropriate albums and folders as quickly as possible, plus the keywords, adding to groups ...

Batch a = 31 images

Batch b = 33 images

Batch c = 10 images (NSR23)

Batch d = 19 images

Batch e = 23 images

Batch f = 17 images

Batch g = 35 images

Batch h = 10 + 12 (apologies, this is with delays ! - first 10 were uploaded as a test)

Note : sorted out, and unlocked, the remaining images showing Emoyeni "at sea" ...

Batch j = 22 images

Batch k = 24 + 20 + 5 images ("Big Saloon")

Batch m = 31 + 23 images (Bowes 971)

Batch n = nnn images (Knotty Brake and final shots of Bowes 971)

Batch p = nnnn images (random things like the weather, plants and animals)

Batch q = progress on NSR23 (ABC) and new project (Isle of Man "pairs" F62)

These last two batches will (hopefully) bring uploads more or less up to date. There is a major new project, which is due to be arriving shortly.

SEE --- two addenda at the end with extra information

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) The restart of ipernity after the maintenance work was unfortunately somewhat rough. This was caused by one of two backup servers which have been additionally integrated. But from now on ipernity should run to our all advantage with enlarged security reserves.

2) For the announced cleanup of the ipernity database, all necessary tools are implemented now. The cleanup itself will take place in the background during the next days and can also be carried out by ourselves in the future, without external IT support.

3) As an economic result, we expect AWS storage costs to decrease by more than EUR 7,200 in 2019. Please refer to the following diagram for a detailed breakdown of the storage costs:

Storage Costs for ipernity

4) When evaluating the savings, please keep in mind that storage costs account for only 40% of the total cost. Another 40% is traffic that we don't monitor because we respect the privacy of all members. Of the remaining 20%, everything else has to be paid (map service, translation function, licenses, security certificates, IT service). Especially for the IT service, the budget is far too tight to be able to fulfil your various wishes promptly. This means that there can be no reductions in contributions and that even members with relatively little memory requirements cannot expect prices of 20 € or less when a new contribution model will be discussed soon.

5) On 1st of December, the front page images will be updated to the winter collection. These pictures serve to present ipernity in such an attractive way that accidental visitors from the web are more interested in us. But we still need your help to build up the winter collection! Check your hard disks for suitable pictures or take your camera and make some. You can find some motive ideas here:

www.ipernity.com/group/2341904/discuss/190110

6) 167 members have followed our appeal to rate ipernity on various ranking pages so far. This is a good start. With about 25,000 registered users and about 1,300 Club members, however, there is still a lot of potential. Please take part! It is important to improve the relevance of ipernity in search engines.

7) It is just as important to publish links to ipernity externally! Share selected ipernity images via Facebook, Twitter or other platforms, preferably those where photo enthusiasts are connected. Such backlinks may lead casual visitors, who do not know us yet, to our website. In this way, we can all contribute to making ipernity better known.

Your ima team

IMA replies to comments under the original ima article ...

Addenda 1 of 2 on 1st November 2018

[EN] Due to the database cleanups running in the background, high server loads can occur at times. Although the files to be deleted (images, videos, audio files) are invisible, up to a hundred files and entries (original images, thumbnails, comments, group and album assignments, ratings, etc.) have to be reprocessed at different physical locations for each file. However, we didn't expect that there would be noticeable impairments for you. Therefore, we will limit the cleanup processes to the low-capacity early morning hours (CET) and reduce the batch size. (Posts and Iper mails are not touched by the way.)

Addenda 2 0f 2 on 1st November 2018

[EN] A number of comments have already been made on this subject. But we will gladly repeat it again: Ipernity is NOT insecure. What you see is only the browser hint that ipernity is not completely encoded in https:! Five to eight years ago, when the software was written for ipernity, https: was not yet a general standard.

A simple upgrade is unfortunately not possible. The current mixed content (integration of unencrypted media data and stylesheets into the pages to be encrypted) would have to be neatly separated, the server architecture redesigned, SSL certificates for all subdomains included, etc. This is impossible while the program is running. You already notice which performance impairments cause even the simplest deletion processes that take place in the background. Moreover, such profound changes would probably cause so many subsequent problems that we would all no longer enjoy ipernity. "Never change a running system!"

In order to at least protect your sensitive personal data, we have upgraded the login page and the payment page to https:. At least nobody can steal your access data or penetrate your bank accounts.

Ultimately, however, we won't be able to avoid having ipernity re-encoded as soon as possible, also with a view to better operability on mobile devices. As soon as the community raises the necessary 50,000 to 100,000 EUR, work can begin immediately.

</media:text>

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

The full article in [FR] and [DE] is here ... www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4710588

[EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1. Pam's recovery is gradually progressing. Periodical information can be found at Clickity Click www.ipernity.com/home/christine.bentley.

2. On Monday, Oct. 15. 2018, our returnee offer ends. So far it has been accepted by 139 users. More than 277,500 documents are now publicly visible again. The additional contribution margin is 3,543 EUR. Less the mailing costs and the cost reduction missed during the three-and-a-half-month offer phase, 1,213 EUR of this amount is budget-increasing in 2018.

3. This pleasing result partially compensates for the discovery of dead accounts in July. (Many abandoned two-year subscriptions from the period before the closure announcement were still mistakenly listed in the database.) The current number of paying club members is 1,306.

4. Unfortunately, there is no scope of discount to the most loyal members in the near future although, if members successfully recruit others, this may change. But at the moment we have to keep the budget carefully together in order to be able to make new adjustments to the website (see below). However, the ongoing operation is in no way compromised.

5. For a few days now, logging in via Facebook has no longer been possible because Facebook has tightened security requirements. We are currently investigating the extent to which these new requirements can be met. Since it cannot be ruled out that Facebook will next also tighten the regulations for sharing content, we also have to take precautions or set aside reserves for this.

6. It is therefore a good thing that we are now able to implement the cost-cutting program announced in the summer. As a result, we will be returning around 20 terabytes of storage volume, which was occupied by invisible files and accumulated data garbage from 10 years of operation, to the Amazon Web Service. This will reduce the operating costs by around 7,350 EUR in 2019.

7. The deletion of the data is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018. As this is a large and sensitive operation and some other necessary maintenance work is to be carried out on this occasion, we will take the website off the net early that morning. It is not possible to estimate how many hours will be required for the work. We ask for your understanding and patience. After this operation, ipernity will be operational again with the same range of services but lower costs".

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) Pam is on the mend. She can stand again with support, takes first steps and already eats soft food. It's scheduled to transfer her to a rehab center today. To stay up-to-date, please also follow the news Pam's friends publish regularly underneath the previous newsflash: www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4708924

2) About this misfortune our plea to write some nice words about ipernity in the various existing rankings has unfortunaly faded a little bit in the background. Nevertheless it's important for the prosperity of our community in the future. We therefore would like to remind you again to this topic. Here you may get directly to the rankings: www.ipernity.com/home/ranking

3) Our request three months ago to provide hitherto invisible content to all users as well as to random visitors from the Web had a rather encouraging resonance. To date more than 90 users made more than 140,000 entries visible again.

4) As it will take a few more days to prepare the removal of the remaining useless content and not all the affected users have read the notification e-mail yet, we are extending the deadline of our offer to Oct. 15th, 2018. Here you may get directly to the offer: www.ipernity.com/home/retournee-offer

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) Due to a sudden serious disease, Pam Johnson can no longer perform her duties within the ima team - handling of spam and moderation of official requests (tickets) - until further notice. She will be temporarily represented at short notice by HelenaPF. We thank Helena for her spontaneous willingness to support us.

2) For the further prosperity of our community it is very helpful if ipernity occupies good positions in search engines and rankings. We would like to ask you to help us by rating ipernity 5 stars and writing a few nice words about it on the most important rating pages. A collection of the relevant rating pages can be found here: www.ipernity.com/home/ranking

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

[EN]

{the FR & DE editions are further down the page, here : https://www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4707952 }

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) After a well-deserved summer break, the ima team is back and would like to thank all users who have enriched ipernity with pictures and other contributions during the summer and holiday weeks. In addition, we would also like to thank those who have internally maintained operations and were available to help with any disruptions or questions. We would also like to thank our IT service provider Qwellcode, who quickly repaired another unforeseen server failure outside of its working hours.

2) Tightened child protection rules were the reason that the ipernity android app was temporarily unavailable on Google Play. After we have carried out the measures required by Google with the help of Qwellcode, the app is now available for download again.

3) Tomorrow, September 1, 2018, is the first anniversary of the day on which the ima team took over the operational management of ipernity. Obviously not only we ourselves are satisfied with the result of the work done so far, but also many potential users. Since 2010 there have not been as many new club members as in the last 12 months - apart from the exceptional external special influences of FLICKR (2013/14) and PANORAMIO (2016).

4) In this context, we are very pleased with the response so far to the return offer. The additional contribution margin generated as a result already amounts to more than 800 EUR. The number of additional publicly accessible images and other contributions is over 90,000, and we are very confident that the milestones of 1,000 EUR and 100,000 images will be exceeded in the last four weeks of the offer which, we remind you, ends at the end of September: www.ipernity.com/doc/2396510/46911944. This action has already been a great success for the whole community. In October we will delete the worthless content in order to save your precious money for further necessary improvement projects.

5) Tomorrow the meteorological autumn begins. Other Frontpage pictures will appear to match. You can find the current autumn collection here: www.ipernity.com/doc/team/album/1064224. We thank all photographers who contributed to this. And we invite you all to prepare the winter collection with special eye-catching photos right now. For your suggestions there is the group: www.ipernity.com/group/2341904.

We wish you a golden autumn with lots of good photo light.

Since 2010 there have not been as many new club members as in the last 12 months - apart from the exceptional external special influences of FLICKR (2013/14) and PANORAMIO (2016).

www.ipernity.com/blog/team/4704170

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) Since ipernity is now technically up to date again, we offer all free users the opportunity to upgrade their account to a club account at half price by Sept. 30, 2018. Details and conditions can be found here: www.ipernity.com/home/2396510

After October 1, 2018, the ipernity database will be cleaned from the invisible content of free users. You can also find out about the advantages this measure has for both users and the community at the link provided.

2) A new information board panel has been added to the site's login page providing important information about the life of the site and the association, such as the one above. We therefore recommend that you always log out in the future when you leave your account. Because you will only see information published in this way when you log in again.

3) With this last major project before the Summer break, most of the ima team will now be taking well-earned rests. Of course, Help & Contact, the Moderation and the Technical Support of the site will still be fully operational during this time. At the beginning of September we will then tackle the next tasks.

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

A couple of days late, as I'm away from home ...

[EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) Meanwhile, SSL encryption has been extended to all ipernity login pages. Your registration and log-in processes are completely secure now.

2) Like other websites with login, ipernity offers the option "Stay connected". Under certain circumstances, however, this can be a safety gap. We therefore recommend that you always log out at the end of a session. This is especially necessary for a shared or public computer.

3) The previous logout page has been closed. Instead, we redirect you back to the start page after logging out. In this way we save the community the costs for the otherwise necessary bug fix of the old unsubscribe page.

4) The PicMonkey application is again available to all ipernity users free of charge until further notice. (The PicMonkey service is a third party service and not in our responsibility.)

5) In order to comply with the GDPR regulations for data minimization, we have again cleared the ipernity database from all free accounts that have not been used for more than 3 years.

6) We would like to remind you that for bank transfers, the account number or the alias from the browser line (see screenshots below) must be indicated as the intended purpose. Otherwise your bank transfer cannot be assigned and the account cannot be activated.

7) As of June 1st we have changed the start page pictures to the summer collection: www.ipernity.com/doc/team/album/1054552. We thank all photographers who provided pictures for this. More pictures of you are very welcome. Please place them in this group, from where they will be finalized. www.ipernity.com/group/2341904.

8) Nine months after the takeover, ipernity is finally in a state that it is presentable again. Actually, now would be the time to invest massively in advertising. However, as there is no budget for this, we are dependent on your cooperation. Be creative, use Facebook and other channels to inform and inspire potential prospects. Share your ideas with us and other ipernity users so that we can all apply them and our community can gradually grow again.

StoneRoad2013 has posted an article:

[EN]

Dear members and friends of ipernity!

1) Synchronization problems on our upload servers have affected ipernity's performance since May 8th. In cooperation with Christophe Ruelle, our IT support team succeeded in finding and correcting the cause of the error.

2) We thank you in this context for your patience and your trust, as well as for the many encouragement we received via Facebook: www.facebook.com/pg/ipernity/reviews/?ref=page_internal

3) At the same time the direct link with PicMonkey failed. But this has nothing to do with ipernity. In the meantime we could find out that the operator of PicMonkey has generally taken the free version off the web. Unfortunately, this decision is not our responsibility.

4) Due to those problems, we have temporarily stopped sending out our press release. We will now continue the distribution and make the text available to you: www.ipernity.com/doc/team/46712842

5) In connection with the renewal of subscriptions, the wish was expressed to be able to do so by bank transfer. We provide you with ima's account details for this purpose. You can find them here: www.ipernity.com/doc/team/46756018

6) As of today, the GDPR (EU) enters into force. Since you have already agreed to the storage and processing of your personal data within the legal framework when you opened your account, an explicit individual renewal of your consent is not needed.

7) We met the data minimization requirement by cleaning up the ipernity database by more than 2 million data records, which were deactivated but still stored.

8) Last but not least, we have now also succeeded in providing the registration procedure completely SSL-encrypted. The transfer of your personal data as well as the access data to your accounts is now completely secure.

9) We apologize for the inconvenience during the switch to SSL tonight.

8) Last but not least, we have now also succeeded in providing the registration procedure completely SSL-encrypted. The transfer of your personal data as well as the access data to your accounts is now completely secure.

9) We apologize for the inconvenience during the switch to SSL tonight.
