Coldwaterjohn has started a discussion:

What is apparently a common fault develops which results in the camera becoming inoperable. a system message appears on screen "System Error - Focus". Before you pay for any repair, even if out of warranty, complain to Panasonic UK Support, emphasising the camera is not fit for purpose; you will be advised to send it to their preferred Repair Centre, and they will instruct you to advise the repair centre that Panasonic is prepared to offer "Cost Assistance" on its repair. To fix this problem on what is a £410 camera is normally about £110, so worth pursuing with Panasonic. To their credit they do seem to realize there is a system fault with this product.

HappySnapper has started a discussion:

Hi everyone,
Just joined this group today having just purchased the Panasonic DMC-G5, I purchased this in the hopes that all my travel needs will be met using this one single camera and I must say having messed around with it most of the day I think I made the right choice.
Somewhat fed up lugging camera and three lenses around all the time, missing more opportunities than capturing them I feel an urgent need to put my Canon EOS 600D up for grabs on E-bay together with three kit lenses. Anyone with advise on Panasonic G1-2-3 and the 5 I'd love to hear from you.
