Old Owl has started a discussion:

Please excuse me if this has been asked and answered previously.

I use a Canon 50D for most of my photographs. This has a cropped sensor and therefore (as I understand it) my 50mm lens actually operates at 85mm; whereas on my Canon 5D (a full frame camera) the same lens operates at 50mm. I use a 35mm lens on the 50D to emulate a focal length of 50mm. (Confused? I know I am!).

Does this matter when submitting photos to the Nifty Fifty group? Should I ignore all cropping considerations and just use the 50mm lens regardless of which camera I’m using despite the fact that it sometimes has an 85mm focal length.

Forgive me if I'm being too darned pernickety. Thanks for any responses you can give.
